Quote:So blake's a liar then when he says he's good at running no huddle?

No he isn't a liar.  He likes it but they aren't going to run it.  Why run a no huddle when you have 2 and 3 TE sets and you want to run the ball?  Seriously this offense is stupid enough already without speeding the horrible up.

We aren't built and we aren't talented.  Could we get better?  I sure as heck hope so but man this team is not very talented.  The team could be talented but it is all potential and no display of it yet.

What do you expect him to say? "No, im pretty bad at running it actually"

That's what you took away from those comments?  All that tells you is that Blake is comfortable running the few plays that are utilized in a hurry up offense.  Just because he says he's good at running no huddle, that doesn't mean we should immediately flip the switch and just go down that path the majority of the time.  He needs to get good at running the base offense.

Look at the personnel they kept on this roster after the cuts.  They intend to run a ball control offense, otherwise we wouldn't have so many TEs and RBs, and so few WRs.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Ask yourself: Had the Jaguars drafted Mariota, would they have adapted their offense to his strengths like the titans did (more shotgun), or would they have tried to make him run this exact same offense?

My point is, I don't get the feeling that THIS coaching staff would have modified the playbook to give their quarterback a better chance at success in his rookie season.... That's concerning.
Ding, Ding, Ding!!!!   Don Shula was and is the greatest coach ever IMO.  He took the players he was given and adapted his game plan to their strengths.  When have we seen that mentality here?

Quote:Boselli is gonna say whatever the company line is. He has proven that time and time again (Lageman to a lesser extent, but you still get some of that with him). Prisco has also been a bit of a homer in the past, but he got burned on Gabbert and Gene Smith "building the right way", so he now knows better.

I don't know what Boselli was talking about, Prisco is absolutely right based on Bortles' play from last year and this past Sunday. Bortles himself even said he thrives in no huddle for crying out loud. Boselli is always going to take the side of the coaches, but frankly the coaches haven't earned the benefit of the doubt, not at all.
100% agree.  What they are doing now is not working

I don't know, maybe that time we kept four tight ends and five backs on the roster, then ran a ball control offense?

But the tight ends arent even all that good outside of Thomas. Marcedes disappears in games. Just because you have quantity at a position doesn't mean you have quality. I would have preferred keeping one fewer tight end and one fewer HB. What does toby give you that bernard pierce doesnt (or vice versa)

You can have an adequate number of bodies to run a certain system, but if the parts aren't adequate, it all falls apart. That's why teams that rapidly switch from 4-3 to 3-4 defense struggle early on. You can't just say "we want to be this", you have to have the pieces in place

Remember when we tried to run some 3-4...   yuck

I feel that throwing short and safe all day only works with the Pats because they have a TE on their roster that requires attention and leaves WRs 1on1 coverage on teh outside.

It works for them because they run picks and other basketball on grass moves.

There's nothing that anyone can tell me about the Patriots. I believe everything they do now is cheating. They've tarnished the game.

Yeah they sure have made it tough for the opposing fans.  I think the Colts whining to the competition committee is to blame as well.  That back and forth rules changes and points of emphasis after Polian pushed any "legal" effort to favor the Colts actually helped the Patriots out.

Just thinking about the pick plays they run and the push offs by their WRs just piss me off. They take any and every attempt to take advantag of the rules.

Yes I was just making comments in relation to the thread. People were bringing up other reasons like yeldon running a sloppy route.

I was thinking a lot about our team when Manning was getting sacked, picked and harassed.  Gary Kubiak is a meany for putting Peyton through those roll outs.

What I thought about in relation to our team was.....   Man we still have a long way to go before we can compete.  Both of those defenses were fierce.  And in the case for Denver, proven play makers really show up at crunch time.  Our team needs serious work.

Shotgun gives your quarterback a better read of the pre snap defense, and makes it so that your offensive line doesnt have to work quite so hard to pass protect. With our left tackle possibly out this week, you'd think we'd see more. We'll see.
