I'm 42 and I honest-to-God thought that I would "slow down" by this point but no luck so far. I just did a complete career change due to a re-org at my old position so I'm learning not only the new language at the job but an entirely different way of thinking. The reason I think that's important is that I get told on an almost weekly basis about my "sense of urgency". Which to me, is a nice way of saying "you're hyper".

While my waistband has expanded and I need to be a bit more careful about what I do I still go a thousand miles an hour through my day and hit the gym at least five times a week. I still play with legos, I still watch animated shows, I stay up late, I get up early, I have never seen a person that I won't talk to and I love going out.

I'm waiting, honestly and sincerely waiting for this motor of mine to die down just a bit. But, live fast, die old, leave one hell of a handsome corpse. Right? So while my perspective on a lot of things have changed (read as: the "coldness of youth" has died down quite a bit with me) I'm still me. The same, rambunctious, wild, always counted on to say the wrong thing, me.

A couple of children would change all that.

Quite possibly. We may never find out for sure though.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Do we need to have 'the talk'?

Well there are some birds and some bees.  Then a stork drops one off on your doorstep.

No, I distinctly remember the slimy little monster popping his head out from beneath a sheet.

The stork must have put it there.

The mailman might have caused it in the first place... just saying.

I know for one.   I can't drink like i used too.   And have way more responsibility.  But I don't think that is a factor of age.   And more of,  a factor on being a family man verse being single and free.

I'm hoping I can follow along this path. I'll most likely be changing career paths myself, at least in a minor way at minimum, once I complete my MBA, but I'll only be about 31/32.

interesting thing to do is take the myers briggs test every couple-few years to see if your personality is changing.  I was always an Intj but in the last couple years i've been getting INTP

Don't put too much into Myers-Briggs, it's essentially astrology for corporate HR people and pretty much useless.

i put more stock into it than I ever would astrology.  I did an assignment in school where the teacher had everyone take the test then grouped us according to groups according to our results.  So fellow NTs went with me and ES's and so forth, then he gave us a problem to figure out.  It was pretty amazing to see the different personality types get a result, not get a result, feel like they were getting a result but really just helping each others egos and having a good conversation.  I don't think its useless I think it is a tool to get an understanding on how certain types of people figure things out.

Among ways to group people it is certainly better than doing it based on when their parents first [bad word deleted.]
