We have a great example of Federal Government run universal healthcare in the US. It's called the Veterans Administration.

You know it's only a marketplace, right? The Feds aren't actually running the hospitals.

Just think about it.  The Federal Government can't even do right with the VA, and people want this example to be "the norm" as part of "single payer".

I'm sure the Feds are at least paying for the hospitals to be built, because there was a lot of argument in congress that a VA hospital in central Florida wasn't worth the cost. If they are using Federal contractors to run the hospitals rather than Federal employees, then that's a distinction without a difference.

Here's Krugman, one of your leftists, on the VA, using it as an example of how we should be doing healthcare in the US.

And yes, this is “socialized medicine” — although some private systems, like Kaiser Permanente, share many of the V.H.A.’s virtues. But it works — and suggests what it will take to solve the troubles of U.S. health care more broadly.

True in a sense but they are basically financing health care when they give premium subsidies

I don't know that there's anywhere to go from here, so I'll step out of the argument now and reply to this thread in ten years to point and laugh at you when universal healthcare is a stunning success.

Keep dreaming about that stunning success. The collapse is coming.

I was going to post a link to this exact story when I saw it this morning.  Imagine that, health insurance premiums going up as a result of Obamacare.  Let's see how long it takes for someone to blame it on insurance companies and their "obscene profits".
