Honestly I would have graded it lower.

Not only is he gonna be compared to all the other QBs in the draft but Watkins and Mack too. He better hit and hit hard.

Caldwell has some balls.  Not the popular pick, but hopefully the right one.

This is far from a ridiculous pick

So far trying to out smart everyone else hasn't panned out for the Jags. (ie Matt Jones, Derrick Harvey, Tyson Alualu, Blaine Gabbert) I hope this times different, I really do. What really bugs me is that we couldn't trade back. Especially after Cleveland trades out of the very next pick.

Not thrilled with the pick, but obviously we have to take a wait and see approach. Time will tell.

I just hope Bortles doesn't start this year. I'm not sold on the line at all, and the last thing this franchise needs is to David Carr/Gabbert another top 10 QB.

Personally love the pick.  Also love the commitment to pick the QB that they want and not risk losing him.

Have half of the people here even watched Bortles or do you just go by what the draft guys tell you? Last year they had Geno Smith, Ryan Nassib and Matt Barkley as the top 3 QBs

1:45 in and he looks so unimpressive, I had to turn it off.

How about we actually give Bortles a shot?  You know... instead of assuming he's going to fail because the last QB we drafted (by a different GM) did?

If Caldwell selected him at 3, he thought he was worth it.  I preferred a trade down, but I'm glad we drafted a QB.  We might see the days of Chad Henne behind us.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

It's hard to believe anyone posting here really believes they are such a good judge of NFL talent they can call Caldwell a moron.

There where rumors the Browns were considering Bortles at 4, it makes sense why the Jaguars sent so many smoke signals about guys like Manziel, Mack, Evans, etcc.. to me, the Jags knew the Browns had a legit interest in Bortles, and didn't want the them to leap into the two spot to take him. The Browns trading back to 9 (imo) confirms this, it was either Bortles, or trade back. I'm not in love with the pick, but I trust our scouts and GM

Funny how everybody trusts the regime until they draft somebody you didn't want. These guys know what they're doing. Trust them people, come on. This is nothing like Gabbert who was thrown into the fire after not having a full training camp.

My guess is that Blackmon misses half of the season but eventually gets back onto the field. That or they really trust the young guys that played last year.

Pleased with Bortles, but got to wonder why we couldn't make the trade with the Bills. Think the Browns got a great deal there.

Brave call by Caldwell.

So with that logic, nobody could criticize Gene Smith, either.
