I think Malik is 4th in the league in interior pressure over the last 4 seasons

If we are going by pff Jackson is 59 and Dareus is 80. 21 points better. Dareus gets a lot of pressure for a NT. Rushing the passer isn't even his job but he is still decent at it. Not to mention he isn't usually out there on 3rd downs. I think we keep both though (11-03-2018, 06:51 PM)flgatorsandjags Wrote:(11-03-2018, 06:40 PM)JackCity Wrote: Don't have it , just saw a tweet two weeks ago quoting PFF stats . Yeah I don't think anyone is arguing against Dareus being better overall this year , as mentioned in the comments above. Just that Jackson is a better pass rusher and has been this year too. If we could keep both it'd be swell, v hard to do though.

If they played Dareus at the 3 tech and his job was to rush the passer every play I still think Dareus is the better pass rusher. As I said before, they both have different jobs. Dareus also has more career sacks and has had a double digit sack season something Jackson has never had We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! You don't have to buy it, but the stats and film say otherwise. He's been one of the best interior pass rushers in the league over the last few seasons. Dareus has not, that's partially due to role/fit but also his play is different to Maliks. Dareus is disruptive for his size and role here, just not on the same tier as Malik. At the height of Dareus's power he was elite in the run and pass, now he's elite in the run and good in the pass. Still a terrific player.

If we are going on past stats, yes Dareus wins again. Dareus with 7 more career sacks (11-03-2018, 07:57 PM)JackCity Wrote: https://twitter.com/Brodell_Haggins/stat...66912?s=19 You're looking at the past, I'm looking at the present (11-03-2018, 08:02 PM)flgatorsandjags Wrote:You are aware Jackson barely played early on and was only a rotational guy right?(11-03-2018, 07:52 PM)JackCity Wrote: You don't have to buy it, but the stats and film say otherwise. Jackson has 29 sacks in 64 starts, Dareus has 37 in 94 starts. So let's not pretend theres some large discrepancy there. I'm talking about this year too. None of this is a slightly on Dareus either, just there isn't any evidence of Dareus out performing Jackson on a snap to snap basis as pass rusher this year. Overall he's been much better though. If the Jaguars have an in-house option along these lines, at the very least Shad Khan and Tom Coughlin should discuss whether its best to promote him to Caldwell's position. It's possible, but I'd rather see someone who hasn't been viewing the world through Caldwell's eyes. Gene Smith had hung around since the beginning, was Shack's top lieutenant (IIRC) then got the starting job, and look how well the years of tutelage did for him. For some reason, I suspect his arm is simply not quite strong enough, once winter comes and the AFC North turns bitter cold and windy he always falls off. It's because he's a ginger. Gingers can't play quarterback.
