Play calling was fine. Execution and good coverage was the issue. What would you have changed genious?

No, it wasn't. You can say it as many times as you want, you are still wrong and everyone agrees you are wrong. Stop digging the hole you are in. You are wrong, accept it like a man and move on.

Not calling the most conservative plays imaginable while up 3 points against Tom Brady is what I would have changed(this is also know as common sense).

We just didn't get any pressure on Brady when we needed to. Gave up a 3rd and 18... didn't do any screens to stop their pass rush or give Blake any time. Maybe the better team didn't win but the more clutch team won... that's why they're the GOATs. No reason to flame the team. They've battled their butts off to get here.
No pain, no gain.

They went super conservative in the 2nd half and had to rely on the D. Which worked for us all season but Brady is the goat for a reason

I agree the playcalling in the 2nd half left something to be desired.  What happened to Grant in the 2nd half?  Why so many 1st down runs, especially without a FB?

I disagree with your assessment on Ramsey not covering Cook the whole game.  In the first half, he had responsibility on Gronk.

I find it very difficult to believe that NE only committed one penalty the entire game.  There were a couple of holds and PI that could have been called but weren't.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Agreed. We have seen this play calling too much this season. We weren't plaything the Bills. At some point, you have to have a game plan that tries to put points on the board. What about the 55 seconds before the half? Maybe a field goal let's us try a field goal at the end if the game? Gutless. Hackett is not some sort of genius. The blame falls of the offensive game plan, or lack thereof.

Geez man. Did you watch? Cooks was burning everyone that gave him space, including Ramsey. The game plan was fine. When they got agressive second half, it got worse. The team should be proud as they were the better team. Refs and some missed plays hurt.

Got outcoached, conservative, and choked the game. Straight up took the L.

I agree with the op. When the Jags took a knee with multiple timeouts and a minute to go before halftime I knew that the game would probably go the way it did.

Then when it made sense to sprinkle in some runs, on the last drive of the game on the Patriots side of the field with two minutes still left, the Jaguars went all in passing.

Coaching put the team in a position of possibly winning and then pulled it back.

The Jaguars played the second half like Brady was on OUR team and they could just have him score a TD with no problem at the very end.

They played to lose with 55 seconds left in the first half all the way thru the second half. Not the first time Marrone has done this. He deserved to lose coaching like a coward. Hackett just followed his lead.

Hole? Jebus man! This is a message board where usually debate takes place. Were the shots down field not agressive enough? The ones where the line couldn’t block or CB made good plays on the ball? Or did you want more of the same screens that stopped working? You can call agressive as you want but when it stops working you need to find a way. So, how could have they been more aggressive?

Bortles played well, but to not be conservative,  do the jags need to upgrade the qb position

Great season. I hope they figure out and win the off season. You can't play winning football when the QB is a liability on your play calling. Bortles had a great year for him but I just didn't want to see it come down to needing him to win it. I hope he gets infused with better play this off season or something. Guy is tough but I just don't know if he can do it.

The play calling was pretty bad by Nathaniel Hackett. The multiple runs up the gut on 1st and 10 against 8&9 man boxes were unacceptable. IMHO this was the largest factor in losing the game.
New England's OL outplayed our DL. I though that this matchup would be to our advantage and boy was I wrong. Our vaunted DL failed to make an impact on the game and Tom Brady had all day in the pocket on the most crucial plays of the game.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

This has been the same play calling all year that I have been complaining to people about. We move the ball when we mix it up and throw on 1st down and misdirection all over the place. The majority of the time, however, especially the 2nd half of this game, we run up the middle on 1st and ask Blake to essentially complete a 3rd and long on 2nd and 3rd down. We are playing behhind the sticks and handcuffing ourselves to two plays per series.

This franchise needs to grow a set and either play big boy offense or cut Blake Bortles if you are too [BLEEP] to throw on 1st down.

Blake didn't show problems that would suggest Hackett to go conservative.  For some reason, Marrone and/or Hackett starts that crap on their own with the smallest of leads.  Everyone knows you have to put the throttle in full afterburner and keep it there against great teams.  You can't let up.  We did...
