Why does size matter so much?

Being a woman makes me think 6-1 is tall and wonder why most people say that is short. My dad was only 5-2, so my gender has nothing to do with that opinion.

6'0 is manlet height (in the NFL)

Its not the size that matters, but how you use it

Epic.

There should be a Hall of Fame for threads that are voted in by the board membership.  Or perhaps there could be a "playoff" whereby threads could compete head-to-head in a tournament format?

Thank you JW,

How can you "totally understand", yet think size (or more precisely, lack thereof) shouldn't be a deterrent.  It's really a no-brainer, all other things being equal you go with the bigger player every time.

For a QB, the heightened (no pun intended) ability to see over the defenders is huge.  The release point of the pass is also naturally higher, making it more difficult to block/deflect.

As an offensive coordinator you look for the mismatches, getting the 6'4" guy, one-on-one, against the 5'10" guy.

On the other side of the ball, you want the 6'5' DE over the 6'0" guy.

I'm not saying a short player can't be just as good, but in this sport there's a natural advantage in size

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

And no I don't like Jewell. I just remember it being popular before I got into high school. Mainly we just made fun of it.

You'll have to excuse TMD. It's his Myspace theme song, so he's a bit more familiar than we are.

I totally understand why people think big guys have an advantage over small guys who play the same position. Taller is better, no doubt about it. But it seems people are quick to reject a player as too small when other "short" players at the same position are very successful in the NFL and rarely get hurt.

You know why the shotgun formation was created? Because it made visibility easier for the quarterback. That seperation from the linemen makes height less important to a team that uses it a lot.

Bridgewater's gloves have nothing to do with small hands. Lets not make things up.

That's not exactly what he meant. -.-"

Of course not. And we all know it's the feet size that matters.

Quote:Bridgewater has small hands. GMs and Chicks don't like dudes with small hands.

Well, wearing gloves is one way to get around the small hands issue, and we all know it's the feet size that count. Lol. This makes me sounds like Wagrantwade, but Bridgewater is black...

I can tell you for a fact that Manziel will measure at around 5'10" and likely just under or just over 200lbs. This came from someone in the athletics department at TAMU.

So feel free to bookmark this comment for my gold medal during the combine.

I would be shocked if Manziel is measured at 5'11 or higher. I know this board are still going gaga over his bowl performance. But he won't be going in top 10. I can almost guarantee that.

Mjd is really short, but he makes up for it with his girth.
