1010 is complaining about Coughlin

O'Hallaran went on a tangent earlier on the Jaguars Today show yesterday. Was actually pretty decent to hear him and Dempsey slug it out. Dempsey doesn't seem to mind. It doesn't bother him that much. O'Hallaran is DEAD SET on Coughlin though.
Ryan painted it out to be a "Us Vs. Them" kind of deal. It is what it is. Policy is policy. Could really care less as long as this team is winning football games it will given plenty of the local talking heads something to talk about this year.
Mark me down as wanting to win. Honestly what can an assistant bring to the fans that we can't get from the horses mouth. There really isn't much to say day in and day out.

I like O'Halloran except he should stick to print media since his voice does not carry on radio or TV. I literally can't hear the guy.
For 4 years I've heard "THERE'S A LOT OF GOOD THINGS THAT WE CAN TAKE AWAY FROM THIS LOSS"

What does O'Halloran's access to team information have to do with the product on the field, or how they will feel if they lose? That dude has an inflated sense of self worth.

O'Halloran also kind of made it sound like the Jags were singling him out. That's not the case. It's a media-wide thing. Oh, come on now! I can totally see Gus saying "Guys, we'd really be enjoying today's loss if it wasn't for that meddling O'Halloran."
I wonder what restrictions other teams have on the press. Writers covering the team are banned from giving out specific information from the OTAs. I wonder is that common practice?

His "enjoy sucking" comment actually got Dempsey fired up for basically making it about O'Halloran. The team keeping a lid on press access has nothing to do with winning or losing, but somehow O'Halloran thinks his difficulty in covering the team will result in another suck season. He wasn't here the first time around with TC. The team did just fine then. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

So O'Halloran's access to the team equates to wins and losses. OK Ryan, your free access during the Gus years has lead to many loses. Enjoy the silence as the team wins again.
For the record, I enjoy his time on the radio but the whole "enjoy sucking" comment is petty, unprofessional and so condescending. Dude if your access to the team lead to more wins we would not have sucked so bad for so long.

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.
Coughlin had the same policy when he was with the Jaguars the first time. Didn't hurt attendance, or the Jags ability to win games.
At this point, all I care about is winning.
Yea after 10 years of losing. Something defiantly deserved to change.

Ryan O hates to beat a dead horse, but who wants minced meat? Yeah, he's been squawking about that a bunch. I understand his riff. I actually have more respect for O'Halloran than used to be. He does phrase some good questions.

This is actually pretty funny from Oehser on the heels of Ryan's whine-fest:
" - From last year to this, what is the most noticeable difference you see from Mr. Coughlin now being leading this team? John: Ryan O’Halloran seems much happier. Beyond that, it’s pretty much the same ol’, same ol’."

He will eventually ease up on this, but he's never going to make everyone available to the media like Gus did. I think he feels like the easiest way to control information is to trickle it out instead. They're in the middle of a complete revamping of the team, and fewer distractions aid that process. They control the narrative and decide what they want out there and what they don't. This, all day long. As a long distance fan I definitely want as much info as possible, but the bold part is more important. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
That comment was very childish and immature. I can't blame Ryan for wanting as much access as possible, but he should have thought twice before making the "have fun s_cking" comment.
Coughlin has mellowed in some ways, but don't expect him to ever like dealing with the media or of being a player's coach. As long as they win, who cares? |
