Honest opinion on what you think Dave's mindset is....

I can count at least five games where he struggled MIGHTILY. Show me even one game where Teddy didn't make at least 3 NFL throws. That's what a franchise QB right there. Bortles is really close and has a similar skill set to Manziel, with a higher floor and very little bust potential. Any other QB's aren't worthy of a first round pick IMO.

I don't think Teddy is as much of a lock to produce at the next level as many think. Hell.. Blaine made a ton of NFL throws at Mizzou. Not that he doesn't deserve to go 1st and not that he cannot become a pro bowler, but nothing is guaranteed. Even in the Miami game I saw a few throws that were underthrown and would have been picked against NFL defensive backs. Nitpicking? Maybe. But let's not pretend there aren't a ton of can't miss prospects who went #1 and were busts.
Only a chump boos the home team!

I thought for sure that Caldwell would adress OL differently than spending the 2nd overall pick on it.

We don't know crap about his philosophy.

If people want Johnny just so he can put bumms in the seats they are dead wrong and do come across like Tebowmania. Plus if for some crazy reason Teddy falls to us he will also get people flocking to the stadium due to his play on the field.

The Manziel crowd is simply the Tebow cult re-born with a new leader. When you list reasons to draft a QB and you start with jersey sales, ticket sales and "buzz", you are not doing it right.

Priorities should go as follows:

1.) Bridgewater

2.) Clowney

After that is pretty much a toss-up IMO.

I will say that if Johnny doesn't declare, or both he and Teddy or gone before our pick, then we need to take Clowney. I don't like him but he's much better value than Bortles at 3.

I love all the Tebow references here.  Personally, I would have rather gone the Tebow route and enjoyed the buzz even if it failed rather than to have gone the pathetic route this franshise took over the past 4 years.  Right now, the people in this city are as distant from the Jags as they have ever been.

If that is the case, then trade down to a team that loves Clowney  -- personally, I think he's way overrated.

I disagree.  The knock on Tebow was the he had a long release, played in a spread offense, and is not very bright (as shown by his 17 on the wonderlic).   Manziel has a quick release, strong arm, played in various formations, and is a pretty smart dude -- he just parties too much to trust him 100% as your long term franshise investment.

Ah, 'tis that time of year again. When young man's fancy turns towards football.

... and every thread gets warped into some convoluted Quarterback discussion.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

if Teddy and Manzel are gone, Mathews will be sitting there and i think he has more upside and will be more solid then clowney. Caldwell Learned under Polin, and if you look at the Polin approach to QBs it was Tall Big Arm QBs not Small Running QBS. I think this is Caldwells thinking if you look at Keeping BG and Signing Stanzi. I think if Teddy is gone and Mathews is there he may reinforce the Oline and take mathews then maybe Bortels if he ffalls to 2nd round.

i think caldwell will be on the bap bus

the only places i think he won't look at unless there is a glaring opportunity at a great price (ie jake matthews falls to the second not saying he will but that sort of mismatch) is

tackle, corner, safety, kicker, punter

anywhere else bap

I don't see Bottles dropping all the way to the 2nd round. If he does were not sitting at 33. He would surely go before we pick again in the 2nd.

In that case if Bortles is their guy then they should take him at 3. I just rather reach a little then give up later picks to move up for a guy. We need every pick we have to build. Too many needs to fill still.

If, Manziel, Bortles and Clowney falls to us and Dave, for some reason, doesn't see the value at that spot or character issues, he may trade down. If he does, keep an eye on Watkins tonight. He might be the BAP if we trade back. I would love to see him in a Jags uniform. Boyd will be on display also. He probably will go in a later round.

Dave will not pass on one of those three just to trade back and take a first round wide receiver.  Not gonna happen.

I don't think so either but who knows how he will have those 3 graded.....that's unless you've talked to him.

Nah, I just have common sense.  I'm sure Dave does too.

Let us hope.....I've seen some pretty strange things in NFL drafts......including picking a punter in the 3rd round

I think Clowney is Dave's #1 player on his board without a doubt. Followed by Bridgewater. After that I couldn't even guess.
