Dante Fowler Arrested
|
IDK how racism became such a prominent part of this thread, but I'm pretty sure Fowler could've made better decisions, like walking away for example, wether there was any racism or not. There is no good excuse for this, or his 10 traffic tickets in 20 months (it was said his driving was the catalyst for this fight. Not racism), or his incident last offseason with the 2 women, or the fights in TC, or the flagrant penalties....blablabla.
This guy is approaching epic bust levels very quickly, and it doesn't have a damn thing to do with racism. And Caldwell should be publicly flogged. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Jeff Prosser said this morning that the victim is a 55-year-old man. I give Fowler four, maybe five, years until he's broke and working a grunt job somewhere.
This incident was fouler than the last. jeesh!
You Gotta Be Able To Run Da' Rock~
I just don't trust this guy on and off the field. Lack of discipline, poor decisions, no self control, immature.
Then you hear him in interviews and he admits he has to mature, says all the right things and stuff...and then does something stupid again. I wouldn't be surprised if season starts and he'll show the same immaturity he showed last year and I wouldn't rule out seeiing Smoot taking over his spot within a few games. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong.
I love how people ASSUME when a black man is involved in something... it must have been a race issue.
First of all... I'm so sick an tired of that excuse. (I.E. Kap doesn't have a job because he's a black man [ask Mike and Jemele on 'the six']) Secondly... racist WORDS are no reason to assault someone. Thirdly... if a black man calls me a honkey cracker and I get out and beat him up... I'm charged with a hate crime... so tired of all the double standards and excuses using race. ridiculous. no excuse for assault except in self defense. People should stop using race as an excuse for everything. And the "reverse racism" is getting out of hand too. This has strayed off into almost politics... so I'm done... just had to get that rant off my chest. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
So, not only did Caldwell pick a total bust with gold shoes at #3, but also a guy with major character issues?
Just fire Caldwell already and give it to TC.
Fowler wasn't even a full time starter and led all DEs in penalties. Hobby changed up his stance and he was supposed to be "maturing," but it's obvious he is still an impulsive and undisciplined kid. And not a very smart one at that. Up or out Dante.
Only a chump boos the home team!
The old guy very well could have said "to slow down" in a manner that made Fowler pissed off enough to do something like that. It is all in the delivery. "Slow down, please" or "slow down you dumb piece of s***". In any event, Fowler assaulted a 55 year old guy which tells me that he has a pretty fragile ego.
Fowler is a loser and any team he is on will be a loser. The gold slippers were a red flag. It's all about Dante. Speed limits don't apply to Dante. NFL rules don't apply to Dante. Somebody said he needs to mature or he risks jeopardizing his career. What a laugh! Dante is having a great career! He got a fully guaranteed 23.5 million contract just 4 days after a self-inflicted season-ending injury in a non-contract drill. You really can't do better than that.

It's not like he's going to be beating twenty something year old offensive lineman this season. He's a menace to everyone. Everyone except quarterbacks, that is.
Hey does anyone know If this lake that Dante threw the liquor in related to the Lake Denard Robinson tried driving a car into haha

In my experience, all of those speeding violations for 9 over the posted speed limit were probably significantly more, but the cops were doing Fowler a favor. In the real world, 9 over is practically the speed limit in Duval County. As far as what transpired at the apartment complex, it almost writes itself, and I don't think it was racially motivated as much as it was just someone calling out an idiot driver. Judging from Fowler's driving history, he was probably going way too fast in an apartment complex, and the guy called him out for it. I've done the same thing in my own neighborhood when someone is tearing through doing excessively high speed. Fowler's reaction is the issue here. It's clear he's got an issue with impulse control. Like I said earlier, he's going to find out what true wrath feels like when he's got to sit down in front of Tom Coughlin and explain himself. He'll come out of that meeting a cheek short of what he entered with for sure. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

None of this is all that big of a deal in my book. Dante is only 22, and boys will be boys. But dude's seriously gotta go to driving school. Is he just a glutton for trouble? All these infractions make me think of his knack for drawing personal fouls in games.

I doubt even TC can get through to Dante Diva. He's lucky the 55-year-old wasn't packing. Lots of old guys in Florida are retired cops from up North. Also there are about 1.5 million concealed carriers in FL.
Damn close to assault of the elderly. A serious crime. He will be sued and he will lose or most likely scratch a high dollar check to make it go away quickly.. Dude hit the lottery when Fowler jumped out of the car. He obviously cannot control his emotions and anger. He needs to learn how to...

I see a real need for some objectivity in situations like this. I don't believe it's necessary to throw in his draft position, race or much else. I see a ton of anger toward Fowler and even found myself thinking, "oh just get rid of him already" when I first heard this news a few days ago. I can understand the frustration here.
Something to be honest with yourselves about is (I'm going to generalize) but I see the majority of Jags fans would have done anything to give Justin Blackmon another chance. I believe there are still some fans that think he is coming back someday. Justin Blackmon truly squandered a chance to be an elite WR in this league but he chose vices and that's his life decision. So why does he get a free pass? Does addiction get a free pass? Was he just a likable face? Some of you need to ask yourselves these questions. I didn't have a top 5 grade on Fowler coming out, I still don't see him progressing into an every down player. I think most of you would agree with those two statements. So I have to choose to separate my lack of interest in his play from allowing an arrest to validate my frustration. and I get the backlash because of his lack of field success. Does he not get the same chance that Joe Mixon and DeDe Westbrook are being given? What Westbrook did is considerably worse on the totem pole of molarity if true. Does the lack of ocular proof good Othelo, allow people to overlook these things? I get that most people define their own axioms for nobility to a certain extent. I just see these standards being evaluated by crossed and contradicted emotions people have based on something as simple as production. I have No doubt that if Fowler was producing Mack or Miller type numbers there would be a much different narrative being written about him in these messages. I also realize I cannot judge the morality of a rich twenty-two (hey that's my name!) year old kid who has some serious pride issues. Obviously, Fowler is in some trouble, he might get off because he can afford some good lawyers. Ultimately he's a kid who did a real A******* thing and he's going to pay for it. It seems like he needs to learn to slow it down on the road. We've all seen the way a lot of young men drive. The rest is up to him, he has to be the one to learn from these added up mistakes whether that's pent up anger, too many roids, suppressed childhood fixations that make him feel like he's invincible and above others. I just try to be logical and objective despite any disinterest in his talent.

Most sport fans are willing to forgive legal issues if said player is actually talented. Like you said, Blackmon could have been a top receiver in the NFL, which is why he got a pass. Fowler hasn't even shown he can be the 30th best pass rusher in the NFL, so people are naturally quicker to dismiss him. Just human nature.
The difference between Fowler and Blackmon is simple.
Blackmon is wasting his potential off the field. Fowler is wasting his potential on the field.
