Texas A&M squeaks by Duke (same team FSU blew out) and gives up a ton of points.

 

Clemson beats Ohio State.

 

Those are supposed to be Auburn's signature wins in the tough SEC and the three team looked average.

 

Two of the Auburn wins (Bama/UGa) were well documented flukes and the other (A&M) was a game in which Manziel got injured.

 

Meanwhile FSU embarrassed Clemson on their own field. The same Clemson team that went up and down the field on OSU last night.

 

FSU stonewalled Duke. The same Duke team that went up and down the field on A&M Tuesday night.

 

It all leads me to believe Monday night will not be close.

I was thinking more of being a dynasty team returning to prominence. And against an overmatched team from a power conference that backed it's way into the title game. The 2001 game was a showcase for the resurrection of Miami and a stage for their star players.

First off, lemme admit to being a card-carrying SEC snob, lol.

But lemme follow that up by also admitting that the Bama loss did make me sweat a little bit. And all your other points about Georgia, the Duke games, etc, are spot on. I do think FSU is the far better team, and if I was a betting man, I put my money on the Seminoles.

 

I still can't help but wonder though if FSU will be a bit surprised by Auburn, and I'm simply going off  of BCS history for his. And simply because I think it's hard for other conferences to realize how the SEC steals literally all the best recruits until you actually play them and realize half these guys will be in the NFL next year.

I think the best quote I've ever heard to this effect came from Chip Kelly, who lost to both Auburn and LSU, which he equated simply to the stark difference in the type of players SEC has compared to every other conference.

And then I also can't help but remember when Oregon played Auburn in the championship game a few years back, and everyone thought the Ducks were gonna lay 100 points on them. And they had a point, because the Tigers were either the lowest or close to the bottom in the SEC of every defensive category. In fact if I remember correctly, statistically, the 2010 Auburn Defense was the 2nd worst defense in the history of the program.  But still just the sheer difference in SEC athletes slowed Oregon down, until it became an equal offensive shootout.

 

 

For the record, I do think FSU will win. But I've personally seen what historically has been considered unstoppable non-SEC offenses(Oregon) go up against the very worst of SEC defenses(2010 Auburn), and get slowed down if not completely stopped. I think it's gonna be a crazy game  :thumbsup:

Oregon has never had anything close to the level of talent FSU has. Nor has Auburn played anybody close to as talented as FSU, and that includes Bama. Find me a starter on the FSU team that won't play in the NFL.

I don't think there is really a maybe about it. The Bama defense got torched by A&M, Auburn and Oklahoma. The only position group that Bama might have more talent than FSU is at running back and o-line. But I think those are debatable.
