Blaines Comments about returning!

Quote:I see no reason why his response needs to be based on some agenda of signing with another team. Any consideration at all that maybe, while having been a bad QB, he still wants to get better and reclaim his job? Of course not, being bad at his job means he's a terrible person and should banish himself from polite society. I'm personally amazed at how much we love an underdog or redemption story so long as it's not a Jaguars player doing the succeeding. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Quote:Of course not, being bad at his job means he's a terrible person and should banish himself from polite society. The problem is not personal. Gabbert is and most likely never will be a good football player. His roster spot and cap money can be used towards bettering the team. If they want to put him on the practice squad for league minimum I have no problem with it. He's not making a ton of money but his cap money is much more than it should be. ![]()
Quote:The problem is not personal. This thread is entirely personal. The OP is railing at a young man for expressing that he wants to be good at his job. That's an absurd level of "personal." “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:Alright. Go. 1000 reasons why blaine gabbert shouldn't be back. Number them please.1. Not a good QB 2. Not a good QB 3. Not a good QB Shall we continue?
I can name some valid reason
1. 0 pocket awareness 2. Plays Scared: He is the master at the duck and run maneuver. 3. Horrible Accuracy. He makes Henne look like Joe Montana 4. Bad Decision making: He finished the season with 1 td and 7 ints. A 38 rating. His career rating is a 66 5. He is not a leader: Henne atleast has command of the offense. Gabbert looks like a deer in headlights I don't know Gabbert personally but I can say he is a horrible NFL QB. His best move maybe going to the CFL ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:I can name some valid reason Yet he's won football games in this league. That doesn't mean he's a good QB or a starter. It's just that your hyperbole doesn't quite fit. If he were as bad as you exaggerate, he couldn't have won a single game and wouldn't have been graded well enough to even be drafted, let alone start in college.

Quote:Honest question: Name me a single QB drafted in the top-3 in the last 5, heck last 10 years who has had to 'compete' for his starting job with another young QB who already has a 3-year headstart on him? If you can't, then I'm wondering what your point is exactly Meister... Honest questions: Do you think knowing what they know now, that the Chargers would have kept Drew Brees and traded Philip Rivers? Do you think Tom Brady should have returned to the bench when Drew Bledsoe became healthy? Do you think Rich Gannon should have conceded the fact that he would be a back up his whole career? You see what I did there? If you bother to respond and ask me what my point is, please have the decency to read my first reply to you and not just quote the one line that evidently offended you. The answers to your strawman argument reply were there if you cared to look.
There is no advantage to cutting Blaine now. As of right now, he's the only QB under contract with the team. Henne is the best FA QB available (extremely weak year) and I wouldn't be shocked if some foolish team paid him starters money as a band-aid stopgap. I doubt Caldwell would match in that situation, so keeping Gabbert for now is the best strategy to maintain flexibility. No brainer.
LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.

There are FA Qb's that'll probably be taken over Henne. Like McCown. Jimmy Clausen will probably command some curiosity.
Nevertheless, their is literally no disadvantage to keeping Blaine. The only argument I hear is his contract, which is pitiful, honestly. A.) It's not your money. B.) The Jaguars are wayyyyyy below the cap and money isn't even an issue. Honestly, I'd rather have Blaine on the roster than Chad Henne. Quote:Yet he's won football games in this league.Hyperbole? It's the flat out truth. If your too stupid or too blind too see it thats on you. ![]() Quote:Its arrogant to say" I have 1 year left on my contract i don't see no reason i wont be back" ! This ain't about his contract, that's already a waste of money ! its about his play, and i can name a 1000 reason why he shouldn't be back !What's he supposed to say? "Yeah, I know I'm under contract, but I'd rather these guys just cut me now." I think he could be traded, but probably not for anything more than a seventh-round pick. Maybe a sixth if a couple of teams are interested. Hey, Cade McNown was worth a six in trade, and he once benched himself out of anger. Quote:What's he supposed to say? "Yeah, I know I'm under contract, but I'd rather these guys just cut me now." exactly this is not a big deal I would rather he came out and said I'm fighting for my job than whinging about stuff. At the end of the day it is a pointless issue and he will probably never see the field for us in a regular season game again but if we are carrying 3 qbs next year you could do alot worse at your third/ second string than gabbert if you can fix his issues he would be one hell of a catch. I can certainly see a team taking a flyer on him for a conditional pick and why not We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:The problem is not personal. Off season rosters can be up to 90 players. We have a lot of empty spots, so he isn't keeping anyone off the team right now. In addition, his salary was guaranteed, so there is no benefit from cutting him now either in terms of cash outlay or cap space. Quote:Yet he's won football games in this league.I think you are going easy on the guy. He is really really bad. He never won games....The team won games despite him. And exactly how many games did he win? 5?
Blaine's been a bad QB in the NFL.
Doesn't mean he has curl into the fetal position just to please a bunch of haters that haven't even sniffed the NFL. Quote:Off season rosters can be up to 90 players. He was so bad the coaches had to bench him. Don't let those facts get in your way ![]() Quote:Your right, He just does that when he is behind center and sniffs a pass rush. I never said he didn't. Did you not read the part where I said he's been a bad Qb? Obviously not. Don't know what point you were trying to make with this response. |
