Quote:Question:  Is Jamies Winston already a better college QB than Tim Tebow?

Winston has already won as many Nat'l Championships as Tebow has as a starter-IN HIS FRESHMAN YEAR.  Tebow was not a starter in his freshman year.  Leak was the starter on that team.

Winston has already won the Heisman-in his FRESHMAN YEAR.  Tebow didn't win until his sophomore year.

Winston QBd an undefeated team to win the National Championship.  Tebow never QBd an undefeated team.

Winston led the Seminoles back from an 18 point deficit-largest in BCS history.  Tebow didn't erase that big of a deficit, did he?

Even with this National championship game, he is already viewed as a more viable NFL prospect than Tebow.

Take it up a few notches...

Jameis Winston is all-time great. His performance drew attention early in the season. His sustained quality raised hopes. His greatness at crunch-time was legendary.

With the stakes as high as it gets and the probability of success less than ideal, Jameis took a final possession of the football and led his team mates to greatness.

His accusers in the Gator-infested media will be the ones who fail to acknowledge Winston passed the test of greatness. They will continue to accuse him and crucify him over and over and over and over.

Your last point makes no sense, what does him being a NFL prospect have to do with being the best college player?

I so now right now, only thing I say he has on Tebow is leading a undefeated team to the Championship

Quote:I don't care for either but I dont remember Tebow lookinh like utter [BAD WORD REMOVED] during a title game.

Hmm...did Tebow ever drive his team 80 yards with 66 seconds left to score a championship game winning TD?

Huh

Neither one of those guys even played for a National Title! Ever!

Let's see how Winston follows up. I'll say he isn't better college QB then Tebow just yet because Tebow accomplished a lot over and above winning NT. He certainly is in the discussion and could surpass him, yes.

The FSU kicker has already exceeded Caleb Sturgis' stats in Championship games.

Also KERMIT WHITFORD > PERCY HARVIN --- harvin never ran one back in a championship game !!!

Duh, both were 2 years out of high school.

But being redshirted, Winston didn't have a chance to compete for the starting job.

Tebow was not redshirted and actually got some marginal playing time his Freshman year.  The fact they were both two years removed from HS is immaterial.

When Winston got his first chance to play, he produced a Heisman, a National Championship and an undefeated season.  Tebow did not.

The likelihood that Tebow will make it in the pros is zero.

On the other hand, Winston, on a bad night, still finds enough greatness to engineer a fourth-quarter, come from behind, game-winning drive to win a national championship.

The good news is Winston found his level of failure. It took the collective SEC brain-trust working over-time to develop a strategy to deliver to the  Auburn coaching staff. It worked for three quarters.

So why is it good that Winston found his level of failure?

He gained valuable experience that will make him every bit better than he already is. Pro scouts will be watching for the same kind of melt-down in the future to see how much negative Jameis will retain from this BCS title game.

It's also good that FSU is losing so many offensive weapons. Scouts will learn more about Winston's ability to lead men.

I totally agree.  That is why Jameis Winston is the greatest player to every play the college game.  NOBODY achieved what he achieved.   I'm with you.  Heck, Hershel didn't even win a championship in the time Jameis did.   Marino ?  Nope !!  Not even Vick -- ever !!!    Charlie Ward was a joke compared to Winston.

According to a large number of Florida State fans this championship wasn't supposed to happen.

What I liked about Jameis last night was his abiilty to run when necessary AND to know exactly where he needed to get to for the 1st down.  I think that is going overlooked.

Regarding the best in school history ..... If he is 1 then Charlie Ward is 1B

I don't think they share the 1a and 1b. Jameis won the Heisman, National championship, and went undefeated in his first year as a starter as a redshirt freshman. That to me trumps what Charlie Ward did.

Quote:Tebow won a championship but was not the starting QB (Leak). So it's not like he was the starting QB on 2 championship teams.

Didn't really matter that he was or not, I'd bet he would have won the championship had he been the starting QB all year long. He was definitely more successful than Leak.

Plus he took just as many snaps as Leak did.

Actually... it does matter. He was not the starting QB on the championship team. Easy as that.

1.  Complete speculation on your part.

2.  http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/tim-tebow-1.html

http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/play...eak-1.html

Chris Leak threw 365 passes and had 77 rushes for a minimum of 442 touches in 2006 (which doesn't count the times he handed off).

Tim Tebow threw 33 passes and had 89 rushes in 2006 for a minimum of 122 easily documentable snaps.

So unless Tebow actually handed the ball off, blocked, went out for passes or quick kicked another 320 times, It is highly doubtful that Tebow got the same number of snaps as Leak in 2006.

But guyyys you're missing the really important part.

Cam Newton also has 2 national championships. Just as many as Tebow. Annnnd his own signature cleat, which is one more than Tebow has so if Tebow = good then Cam = more good.
