Dareus to Jags

I think the Coughlin/Caldwell/Marrone regime is a good fit for this guy. They don't tolerate nonsense and we have great peer leaders on this team. If he doesn't perform, I think they will get rid of him. I think this is a good gamble for the Jags.

Well, I was trying to be respectful.
I certainly wasn't looking for a fight. In re: to him not needing to be anything special - I get it. Neither did the Bills. That's just the entire problem though. It's SPECIAL $$ for someone NOT SPECIAL. Saint Dougy had a style here which was brash and hard nosed. 99 was at his most productive, but also went through his most undisiplined period. The current regime is much more 'team aware' so to speak and are always talking about a culture and a plan. For the 1st time in YEARS things seem to be running like a professional football team and with all his talent all he had to do was go with the flow and he couldn't. Again, I liked the guy and hope he does great things. For those asking why the Bills would trade him, that's why. There's no need to get defensive, you guys made a move to try and improve your football team. I didn't say the Jags were stupid for making the move... but rather explained WHY the Bills were trying to move on. The Bills save like 5 million on the cap this year and almost 3 next year. Then, when his deal gets even BIGGER in 2019, the Bills have TOTALLY washed their hands of it... which is why it's almost an OSWILER type favor they traded him rather than just cutting (which they would have done) just to be rid of him and dealt with the cap ramifications. Total cap move for a unit trying to get the culture and their guys inline. At this point, cap space is very important to the Bills bc they are trying to build THEIR roster and have essentially purged Doug and Rex guys. If you guys can afford it and that's how you want to spend your cap spaceMore power to you. If he gets back on track he could really be a help. Again, just a gamble (10-27-2017, 09:28 PM)JaguarsWoman Wrote:(10-27-2017, 09:09 PM)Preach Wrote: 1984 Bears are going down That was postseason as well I think, 65 in 16 games. Not 100% though. Dareus was very good with Marrone in Buffalo, so the trade makes sense from that perspective. So, our starting DL is now...

Bills fans seem to be shocked and upset Buffalo only got a sixth rounder out of it.
https://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/1...ksonville/
Lol, the same people were complaining and up in arms that he wasn't cut yet after sitting out practice 2 weeks ago. That particular forum has many knowledable posters but the Bills.com forum closed early 2017 and took on a bunch of less knowledgeable fans who sometimes are kinda embarrassing tbh.
It's more they can't come to grips that they missed on a #3 overall pick. They don't get other factors contribute to a player depreciating. Just bc a player was taken 3rd doesn't mean that player remains 3rd overall valuewise throughout their entire career. Thus, they complain. Same fans who would complain about the Bills breaking their playoff drought bc it gives them worse draft status. Also, poster was dead on. It's 100% motovation, rather than gas left in the tank. Fwiw, those same remarks about atmosphere are culture are the exact same things that are being said around Buffalo and like you guys seem to be- everyone is on board. He was sent home before a preseason game this year bc he decided he didn't want to ride the team bus and got to the stadium when his teammates were already on the field. Marrone and Rex woulda let that slide. McD and co won't and got sick of it

A sixth round pick will not make this roster next year. That trade evenif it nets us a rotational player at best is a positive for this team that wants defensive line depth. Couple that with the issue isn’t more of a motivation thing than an ability thing. You guys may not have the culture to inspire him but I believe we we do. Couple that with the fact that he is going back to a defensive scheme that he exceled in. He will be back in a 4-3. Couple that with the idea that you guys are footing the bill for this year and we can cut him at the end of the of the season without zero cap penalty and it appears to be a win for us We show less advertisements to registered users. Why this worked for the Bills...
The Buffalo Bills traded Marcell Dareus to theJacksonville Jaguars on Friday night. While the team netted a sixth round draft pick, they also added a lot of salary cap space. Here’s the breakdown. 2017 Buffalo pays Dareus $3.66 of his salary plus a $250,000 workout bonus and saves approximately $6 million dollars in salary. Buffalo won’t have to pay 10/16ths of Dareus’ $9.75 million salary. They have already paid his pro-rated portion of the signing bonus for the year and his workout bonus. 2018 Here is where Buffalo gets saddled with a big $14.2 cap hit. That’s the remaining money from Dareus’ signing bonus. To offset that, the Bills won’t have to pay $9.9 million salary or the $6.4 million portion of his signing bonus already accounted for. Buffalo saves about $2 million, all told, in 2018. 2019 Dareus had a $16.6 million cap hit in 2019. All of that is off the books now. Buffalo won’t have to pay him $8.3 million in salary and won’t have any residual cap hits. 2020 Just like 2019, Dareus won’t count at all. $12.35 million in salary and a $1.4 million portion of his signing bonus is wiped out. His $14.65 million cap hit is gone. 2021 The final year of his contract, Dareus was owed$12.4 million in salary. That’s the Jaguars problem now.

This forum is the replacement for the official Jaguars.com forum that was shut down in May. I take it The Stadium Wall is not as good as the old Bills forum? I only read the first page of that thread. Did you post in it?

So basically we can cut him at the end of the season for zero dollars or pay him 9 million for 2018 and then cut him after that season for zero cap hit. If he performs like an all pro then I’m fine with paying him? I’m not seeing where the problem is for the jags. It does spund like you guys still I’ll have 14 plus mil in dead money next season for a player that is gone. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Twobillsdrive (stadium wall is the forum portion) is/was the spot to go for the folks who wanted a bit more in-depth conversations then the folks who think to go to bills.com. This might sound ignorant but I don't mean it to. Just I guess the more hard core fans who thought to find abit better conversations. Media members would partake and contribute bc it was great conversation to the slightly wackadoo 'official' forum that regularly got post like 'my trade idea for Andrew luck ' type stuff lol It's not my preferred place to talk shop, but it's still worth weeding through the crazy for the worth while posts.
