Dareus to Jags

Not against the run though.

I think they said ZERO deal money after 2018. I think there's little downside to this move. He does get expensive especially in 2020 and 2021. So I suspect he's a 2-3 year guy at most.

I like the deal, but not a huge fan. We sured up the run defense a little more, and that is really nice. The issue is you have a lot of guys you need to resign over the next 2-3 years. Seems we are all in on winning big this year, interesting. The NFL is wide open this year so its not a bad year to go for broke. Guy has some character issues off field and has a history with substance abuse. Somewhat risky move, but if he can produce nothing else matters in the end. Hope we go on a run and win out!

They know Tom Coughlin and Doug Marrone will not tolerate the nonsense Marcell Dareus could get away with in Buffalo.

That is not true. He could produce as a result of PEDs. If the NFL finds out about that, he will be outta here.

Yeah but then we wouldn't have to pay him so whatever.

Ramsey seems ok with it. He tweeted this when it was announced:

Jalen Ramsey‏Verified account @jalenramsey Oct 27

The best Defense in the NFL just got better... welcome @marcelldareus ???

I am sure Ramsey is not the only Jaguar getting excited about it. He is right.

Me too.

Reality is a 6th rounder will have a tough time making this team. If Dareus plays at 60% of his capabilities he's gonna outperform any rookie we'd bring in at that point.

My only potential issue is locker room chemistry wise but I think we have strong enough characters and coaches to make that irrelevant.

It looks like most of his salary is guaranteed for 2018 so that he's staying put at least for that season. After that there is no dead money remaining, however, he has a $2 mil roster bonus probably due March 2019. They really want to make the call to keep him or move on before that $2 mil is due.

We have plenty of time to worry about that later. Let's win first.

If these are the final contract details, the bills got fleeced. A two year 14 million dollar deal with a team option for 3 years after or release with zero penalty for an all pro defensive lineman.

That’s stealing

Buffalo is actually a good team this year too, must of been a lot of bad blood between Dareus and team/FO.

There are various issues here, but the biggest one must be his two strikes because a third failed drug test would make him completely useless. I am OK with the team rule violation if it is not something Doug Marrone will tolerate and bad for the locker room

Buffalo is a cold, dreary, depressing place... he just needs to get back in the south where he belongs to get his life back in order.

I was thinking this as well. Hopefully with a change to more familiar climate and scenery along with a personnel change, he will be more productive.

Boom or bust move. Hoping he comes here with his head right. We have good chemistry on D now. If he has a toxic attitude, will be quick to notice.
Only a chump boos the home team!
