Manziel to formally declare

#1

per rotoworld:

ESPN reports Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel is ready to hire an agent, and "widely" expected to declare for the draft before next Wednesday's deadline.

Manziel claimed Monday that he remained "undecided" on his decision, but ESPN's Darren Rovell reports it's a matter of when, not if, he declares. It's worth nothing that Rovell has been wrong before, but it would be shocking if Manziel decided to return for his redshirt junior year. Official word could come as early as Wednesday.

Well, it's official now.

I'd take him with the 37th pick. No higher. Doubt Dave would touch him in the first three.

Really excited to see the Manziel kids become the new Tebowers though.

Earlier Mike Evens said "he's gone".....also, I heard he's not going to class right now. He certainly doesn't need the money to come out but I think he is driven to be an NFL quarterback and many think he will be a good one....and some.....a star. Anyway, I was hoping he'd come out. The more highly projected players at the top, the more Dave has to choose from.

Excellent. I'm gonna be honest guys, this is the kid I want on our team. He has some trait about him that very few QBs have. My father grew up in the era of Staubach and his ilk, saw Marino and Elway in their prime. He compares Manziel to them. I wasn't around back then, but the amount of "it" he has is ridiculous.

I'm with you. Manziel does indeed have that IT factor. If we can't get Bridgewater, Manziel is the next guy I'd like.

Trade up with this yrs 1st and 2nd and 1st in 2015 and 2016 and draft this kid numero uno. He is a leader of men and will win multiple Super Bowls just like montana. he is a faster more mobile joe cool.

...

I like Johnny Manziel, but there's no way we're giving an RG3 deal for him.

Am I the only one tired of all these pre-declaration declarations??? Just declare and be done with it! I don't need to know today that you're going to declare on Friday!

Chill. He is definitely a polarizing prospect but, not worth that kind of trade.

I was around to see them, too and yes, I agree.  Staubach and Bradshaw were the guys I grew up watching.

I'm starting to really hope we get either Bridgewater or Manziel. I'm trying to like Bortles but I'm just not seeing it. If we draft him I'll be okay with thinking he could win games but man Manziel and Brigewater are guys that can put teams on their backs. Manziel would be fun to watch.

I'll send you a PM that will give you the time that I will post a thread in which will contain the date for my intentions to tweet my target date for emailing my potential agent about scheduling a meeting where we can discuss which date I should make my informal announcement which will, obviously, preclude my formal, unofficial, and official announcements.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

There is some chatter from Brandt and the Texan's boards about trading for Ryan Mallet, given the recent hiring of Bill O'Brien. O'Brien worked with Mallett in New England. If this long-shot happens, the odds of Bridgewater and/or Manziel being available at pick 1-3 for the Jags will increase.

On a side note, I was around and often watched Staubach, Bradshaw, and later, Elway and Marino. I think Manziel will be exciting to watch, but I see nothing in his game that reminds me of these mentioned hall of fame QBs.

After watching him on Monday night on ESPN2, I came away impressed with how he carried himself. Does he like to party? Of course and who doesn't?

I watch him make play after play after play and not just running but extending plays and hitting receivers in stride 25 yards down the field. I really think he could be something special.

We just have to make sure we have the right pieces to help him succeed. We need someone who can make things happen when plays break down and then eventually turn into a pocket passer.
