Trent Richardson to Colts For First Rounder

Quote:Wasting? Using a late 1st round pick on a 22 year old running back who had 1,300+ yards and 12 touchdowns in his rookie campaign is not "wasting".

What RB are you talking about?

A lot of stupid comments on both sides here. I'm personally not sold on TR trade, but its way to early to do anything but speculate. Which is fine - you got a strong opinion, put it out there. But here's where I am as a Colts fan - I'm more than happy with the progress of the team and the performance of the GM. The team is 14 - 7 (including playoff loss) since the end of a 3 - 13 season and has undergone a complete makeover, has a lot of young pieces, and is in great cap shape. You want me to cry over MAYBE over paying for TR's potential? Not going to happen. Of course Vontae Davis was awful his first few games after not getting much time with the team following the trade and many here were laughing and calling the trade a bust. Ask Shorts and Gabbert if VD is worth a 2nd round pick!

Quote:Put your hatred for the Colts aside for a second while evaluating this trade.

In the past five years, here is a list of 1st round running backs:

Darren McFadden

Jonathon Stewart

Rashard Mendenhall

Felix Jones

Chris Johnson

Knowshon Moreno

Donald Brown

Chris "Beanie" Wells

C.J. Spiller

Ryan Matthews

Jahvid Best

Mark Ingram

Trent Richardson

David Wilson

Doug Martin

The only 2 running backs in the list I'd rather have are CJ Spiller and Doug Martin.

The Colts gave up a late 1st round pick to fill a void they needed filled and got the 3rd best runningback of the past 5 drafts.

"Bad trade"... only if you are blinded by Jags homerism.

Bit Sore that Manning is looking better than ever? and Luck's ceiling is more Phillip Rivers
I don't know any Colts fans that are bitter about Manning. Everyone I know is rooting for Peyton - except when he plays Indy. You can try to talk [BLEEP] all you want - the Colts made the very tough, but absolutely correct decision to move on to Luck.

There are no regrets in Indy. Denver has a much better team to put around Peyton than the Colts could have. And the Colts have their QB position locked up for the next 10+ years. They've also decided to build in a different manner - one that will hopefully lead to more post season success.

As to your Rivers comment - whatever, I'm more than happy knowing Andrew Luck will QB my team for the next decade. I know he's a special player. I guess we shouldn't expect a Jags fan to know what a good young QB looks like anyway!

Trent Richardson. He was 21 years old last season.

950 yards rushing, 11 rushing TDs. 367 yards receiving, 1 receiving touchdown.

1,300+ yards and 12 touchdowns

I was contemplating putting Spiller there. I love Spiller as I have him in both of my dynasty leagues, but him vs Richardson is basically a coin flip right now. They Spiller has a higher ceiling, but is also 4 years older (22 years old compared to 26 years old). I'd probably go with Richardson if I was building a team for the next 7 years.

Did you take advantage of those free beers?

Lol, these empty one-liners are incredibly bush league. It's bad when the only reason someone is quoting your post is so you can hurry and be banned.

I'm still laughing at your awful comprehension mistake from earlier, and the irony in your pretentiousness afterwards.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

Come back when you have won a playoff game. Until then, your "good young QB" hasn't lived up to his draft hype yet.

You're hilarious.

Seriously, I can't tell if you're trolling, but I don't think anyone can be this moronic.

Watching Richardson play yesterday, he really doesn't impress me that much at this level for a RB. He looks very average to me.

Is he an upgrade from what the Colts had? Sure....but that goes to illustrate just how bad their RB production has been, rather than seeing Richardson as some stark talent.

Bite your tongue! That is the #3 pick we are talking about. Show some respect.

Got it. I'll remember that next year when evaluating the Jags new rookie QB - he's a failure until he wins a playoff game. Doesn't matter if he's the primary catalyst for a great turn around, if he doesn't make and win a playoff game he's a failure.

In a way he's a catalyst...But then I think the real catalyst was not playing Painter anymore.

Back on subject I'm not sure Richardson is much better than a journeyman back like Green-Ellis in Cinci

I'm a Colts fan and haven't been sold on T-Rich.  To be honest, I liked the Ballard/Bradshaw combo but that didn't happen due to injury.

Cleveland 3-0 since trading Richardson.

Picked up McGahee from his couch eating Cheetos and he comes in for 2.7ypc. Not a huge drop off.

Colts are also 2-0 with Richardson & having Ahmad out make this trade that much more of a good move for the Colts.

Is it possible.. *gasp* that the trade was good for both teams?!?! Yes, it would seem like it is.
