If we keep Bortles, I hope we keep Hackett too.

Though with Hackett, it may not be our choice. I'm wondering if he'll get some head coaching offers.

But for Bortles, continuity is key. I'd hate for him to have to learn a whole new scheme from a new OC.

You guys think we can keep Hackett?

The offense is improved... but seems like if you are going to hire an OC as your head coach, you would look for a more prolific offense than the Jags. I know there are a lot more factors than just yardage and points.... just don't see the rest of the league beating our door down to find the mastermind behind this offense.

Hackett ain't getting HC offers man, rest easy.

Yeah I don't see Hackett going anywhere for a few years. Now if he gets Blake to MVP caliber next year, maybe.

But in the scenario we keep them, it will be for a couple years at least IMO.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Wash, however could be attractive to many teams.

I think Hackett will be here next year. If Bortles continues to play well, he'll be back too.

Hackett is a ways away from getting an NFL HC offer. Maybe a college school but I wouldn't expect him to get big time offers there yet either.

Another good year next year with Bortles and then maybe there would be some talk.

I would think Wash stands to get a head coaching gig faster than Hackett at this point. That's not a knock against Hackett. He's done one hell of a job with Bortles and this offense in general. But the defense is the heart and soul of this team right now and Wash will be getting quite a few looks.

Especially when you consider that he's utilizing the talent he has around him to the best of their abilities. And when you consider that Marrone is more of an offensive minded coach it makes Wash look even better.

Hackett should PRAY Bortles comes back next year... because if he can get Bortles to win a Super Bowl, that is the kind of accomplishment that gets you a HC job.

Not necessarily trying to take anything away from Wash but I feel like a lot of people could do well with the players we have on defense.

I'm thinking both coordinators are back next season. If we put together another season of dominance next year either could get some consideration but at this point neither has extensive experience as a coordinator and Hackett is only 37 which is still pretty young for an NFL head coach despite the success McVay has had this year.

Edit: Looks like Hackett has a birthday coming up on Tuesday.

Happy B-day Nate, hope you get to celebrate clinching a playoff spot as well.

Agreed.  I don't think we're in jeopardy of losing either coordinator to head coaching positions this year.  Both of them have a very small sampling to support a promotion.  If they can carry this over to next season with the same level of effectiveness, then possibly.

All head coaching vacancies will be filled by the time we're done winning the Super Bowl.

Regardless, Hackett has been following Marrone around for years... He would get more consideration if he had done something similar with a different boss before.
And Wash... anyone would look good with this group, right?

I'd be shocked if either left for greener pastures after this season.
