Bortles the clear cut favorite to go #1 according to report

#21

Quote:I HIGHLY doubt Bortles will be the 1st pick in the draft...

So much so, that I will leave this board for a year if it were to happen.

Like others have stated, I don't see what is so intriguing about him to make a substantial jump from an "almost nobody" before this college football season to a "surefire #1 draft pick."

Regarding your last paragraph, its happened before although rare. See Cam Newton.

Reeks of the Blaine Gabbert hype possibly going #1 a few years back.  I could see someone liking Teddy over Johnny, or Johnny over Teddy, or even Clowney over those guys but Bortles is behind all three in my mind.  I doubt he goes #1 overall and don't think he will even be a top 10 pick.  Some team, like us with BG, might be QB hungry and overdraft him.

Be prepared for insane amounts of misinformation until the draft.

Tough choice? Not really.. JJ Watt is the best Pass Rusher in the NFL and he was on a 2-14 team.

WE NEED A QB.

Agreed with the sentiment, but Robert Mathis was the best pass rusher in the NFL this past season.

Fair play, but we both know it wasn't Robert who carried the team.

also agree with that and ill also add that while luck isnt on the most talented team, i still think he has been playing very inconsistently and not living up to the potential.

if he ever hits his stride and then puts some consistency on the field in combination with his natural talent and if they keep drafting well, the colts will be a powerful foe in the division.

and it is all on Luck, not on robert mathis.

He wasn't a nobody. Just because some fans didn't know about him doesn't mean anything. The nfl people knew about him because unlike most fans they have enough scouts to watch every game.

@dpbrugler: @SAF4SAFF Maybe to some fans, but he's been on the NFL radar for a few years now

Quote:And even still Tony P has us passing on a QB for Clowney in his mock.

That would be the value pick, BAP.

Quote:if this happens we just have to hope whoever moves up to 2 doesnt take Manziel

No we don't. We can simply not take Manziel even if he is available.

Quote:And even still Tony P has us passing on a QB for Clowney in his mock.

So there is no reason to believe he really knows anything and is qualified to write a mock draft.

Quote:Best case scenario. Texans draft Bortles then Cleveland leapfrogs us for Manziel. We take Teddy 3rd overall without giving up any picks.

Best case scenario is nobody trades up to #2 so we can get our pick between Bridgewater and Manziel.

Easy choice. Clowney publicly admitted he is a slacker in practice and that shows during games. Players like that will never be good in the NFL.

No it would not. The BAP would be Teddy.

I have a feeling Clowney will disappoint some people in his rookie year.

The last time I remember this level of euphoria coupled with vehemence displayed by Jaguars' fans was prior to the stampede to draft Justin Blackmon.

Dion Jordan had two sacks for the Dolphins. What a beast!

Clowney would be a big bust.

Jake Matthews is the best player in college football. A second elite offensive tackle prospect in Jacksonville is perfectly fine.

Pick Manziel.  We need to get this city back on board with the Jags.  Fans just don't care right now.
