Jags vs 49ers talk

#81

All the Garoppolo hype is a cute story. They about choked the game away against a lousy Titans team. They also had to come back and beat the Bears and Texans at the end. They've only scored a combined 66 points in those 3 games they've won (22 PPG) against bad to mediocre defenses. I'm a little worried about our track record in west coast games but this is an entirely new team and new mindset. These guys are just in our way. If the starting offensive line is active with Fournette this shouldn't be difficult.
No pain, no gain.

Only thing happening in Nashville will be the AFC South Champions knocking the home team out of the playoffs for the second consecutive year!

Not going to happen.

They'll be long out of the playoffs by then.

The Jags are still fighting for a first week bye.  If the Jags win out and either the Steelers or Patriots lose this team gets a first week bye.

I hope to see the Jags just go in there and steamroll this team.

Yes, I think there is still too much to play for... not only that... we have spent the last 10 years losing... lets just keep the momentum going!

Thats where I am. We could have playoffs and the South wrapped up before we play, but a 1st round bye, 1 game away, we need to at least play for it.

Plus I don't think we are quite good enough to say well play at 70% this week, then 80% the week after but then 100% if we want. We are playing really well and you can't eliminate the risk of injuries completely, they could get injured any day of the week. There is a great spirit and attitude in this team and I don't see how let's go easy for two weeks fits in.

Plus Coughlin. He played his full strength Giants team against the 17-1 Pats week 17 as he said they preach winning every week and how can he now say they'll play the backups.

These guys are just doing child's play until the playoffs start. They are in it to win it all. This team will go full beast mode soon enough. Love you guys.

This. Except for this week, I think they'll be focused on locking up the division, and I don't think the players will be checking on the status of the tenn game before this one starts.

Last week's game against Houston was historically the kind of game the Jags have been known to come out flat for under the last two coaches. Marrone has them locked in with laser focus and it won't stop in San Fran.

The team won't be thinking about the tenn game or thinking about the West Coast curse, Marrone will have them thinking one thing "Beat the 49ers and you win the division for the first time." Oh and Yannick is going to have a 3+ sack game. The Pro Bowl snub got to him. As someone said in another thread, poor poor Jimmy G.
“It just shows what kind of team we are. We’re a tough team. We like contact. We’re very physical. We want the issue to be brought to us so we can show people we can stand up to it and overcome it. Seeing that’s just a symbol of our team and who we are.” - Jaguars DT Malik Jackson

Cole 80 yards receiving. Would you take the over or under?

Jimmy G will be sacked 5 times, intercepted 3 times, hurried eight times and knocked down 11 times. He will be questioning why he ever even considered the NFL as a career. All he will want for Christmas is his two front teeth.

Sadly, I think we lose this week. West Coast trip, they know our defense/scheme very very well, have nothing to lose, we are coming off an emotional week, plus they have confidence. I think we lose 20-17

Unfortunately Beadles doesn't start.

Actually due to injuries, Beadles is starting. At right tackle. Clowney owned him all day when they played the Texans. It should be another horrid game for him.

This game is all about focus, hopefully the players aren't keeping one eye on the score of the tacks game. On paper we should dominate but it *is* a west coast trip. Russell Wilson > Garoppolo though and our defense was able to contain the Seahawks except for two fluke plays.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

I'm hoping for it. Would love to see San Fran get a wake up call from our D.

People are already proclaiming Jimmy g is better than Montana.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

“Jags coming off an emotional win by beating Seattle.....” remember that? Then Jags win by 30.

Their OLine is not good. Telvin and Yannick are angry. Bortles is playing his best football of his career. The Jags could lose this game but it won’t be because they “know our scheme” and they have “nothing to lose”. Jags have a lot to play for but I guess we are ignoring that.

Know our scheme? There are scheme similarities on every NFL team. It really just comes down to nomenclature as the key difference. The game is really about talent and matchups. Apparently our defensive “scheme” is the same as Seattle’s and we saw how that went.

This game will come down to whether or not the defense can adjust to the quick game. The 49ers will attack the middle, with occasional outside comebacks just like the Cardinals did.

It also comes down to turnovers. When we played the Cards, they only had one drive over 50 yards but because we gave them great field position multiple times, it led to scores.

If the Jags are solid on special teams and the offense has no turnovers, I think Jags win big.

Niners should just go ahead and sit Jimmy G. They don't want him on the field with our defense. Especially with a few of them feeling snubbed.
