Can we afford to rest our starters now?

Letting the tacks back into the playoffs to beat them a week later is sweet justice

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

I'm not sure its ever a good thing to play a team twice in a row... especially coming off a loss to them

The season is over. Goal achieved. Rest up boys. This isn't even a question you ask a coach. You go to the tournament with all of your horses rested up.

The way Mariota has played this season, I am not that worried about him.

Honestly I'm not worried about the Chargers any more either. They've cooled off big time

I'm worried about having to face either the Chargers or the Titans in the first round. I would much rather play the Ravens or Bills.

Were the starters out there today?

Man this really is 1999 all over again.

We are hoping for the Bills....and we don't want to see the Titans.

Look, if we are planning on doing anything in the playoffs we are going to need to beat a good team. IDC who we play, as long as we win. If its me, I play to beat the titans in week 17, but I'd rest anyone who needs it if they are banged up. Sitting players when you have a chance to demoralize a division rival and boot them out of the playoffs two years in a row doesn't rest easy with me, but I would hate to lose a player to injury as well. Tough call for Marrone to make, but I bet the starters play for the most part.

Resting healthy players against a division rival after just being destroyed is the anti-thesis of what this staff and team has preached. I could see them resting one or two but other wise will play the full squad, and they should.

If they play I hope we have a vanilla scheme, save all the good plays for the playoffs.

This team has no business resting players. They were a flat out embarrassment today. They're just lucky that the Rams barely beat the tacks, or this loss would have been completely different. It's still an awful and pathetic loss, but it could have been much worse if the Rams didn't win.

It's actually funny that people were talking about Wash being a possible HC candidate. He can't adjust during a game to save his life. All of this talent on Defense and you play nothing but zone coverage? Beyond pathetic.

Zone coverage all game long. But really it all starts with stopping the run. We couldn't slow them down from running the ball ever. Then the play action boot leg was killing us on 3rd down every single time. Barry Church was making a lot of our tackles near the line of scrimmage. That isn't supposed to happen. I mean do what you need to do to stop it but the front 7 got thrown off the ball pretty hard all day. Tennessee did the same thing to us last time we faced them and it will happen again if something doesn't change. This one game against a resurgent team at their place doesn't define our season. We need some tough love from the coaching staff and just let the players bounce back. We've done it pretty well this season. The team hasn't lost 2 in a row yet this year and that is an accomplishment. Hopefully not getting that extra day off during the week for winning gets us dialed back in.
No pain, no gain.

Coughlin never rested players IIRC. After today’s performance, I highly doubt we do next week either. You want to be firing on all cylinders come playoff time, not driving the bus sans a tire and some spark plugs.

This is essentially the bye week we all wanted. You take it. You HAVE to take it. You would be dumb not to take it. Imagine Ramsey or Bortles getting g injured in this game. It would be unforgivable.

Besides, I think our 2's would have success against them.

I agree.

I also think the word comes down from VP Coughlin (Coach Marrone has likely already decided this anyway) that everyone plays, and plays hard, from wire to wire.

I wouldn't play all backups, but I'd definitely hold anyone out that will benefit from the week off.

I can't see Cam Robinson playing, or Fournette, or Hurns, or Lee, or Ramsey, maybe even Cole depending on how his ankle is doing (or whatever he injured yesterday). Might be some other guys with nagging injuries that would stand to benefit from a week of rest, but definitely don't play the guys that are having injury problems.

I say play everyone to try to get back in sync. Dont need to be trying to find our groove in a playoff game. Rest the banged up players. Fournette, maybe Ramsey?

Lee & Hurns will be back for playoffs, which will be huge. Lee Hurns Cole Westbrook Mickens Strong. Can always have a fresh pair of legs in there

^ I agree.

Jags need to get some "swagger" and confidence back. They wanna go into the playoffs with some swagger? Well:
- Going on the road
- facing a good team that's fighting for their playoff lives
- a team that smoked the Jags early in the year
- the team's most hated divisonal rival

Jags should go up there and play to win. Go ahead and play a "playoff atmosphere/caliber" game,, and knock their rivals out for the season.

Resting players against the titans and losing, just to see the titans again the very next week in the wildcard round is no bueno.

Just my preference.

** of course,, not one fan has any influence on what the team will decide to do. I bet they play starters to win. But, we'll see.
