I think we are better as well. They came out and played with everything on the line, while we had nothing to play for, and it was a competitive game. Our defense is clearly the best unit on the field. We just hamstring ourselves offensively.

Honestly that game yesterday was boring as heck. I will say the chance of a QB sliding at any time keeps them from getting teed up. On that o e Mariota first down the safety pulled up and got stiff armed. If he took the clean shot on him, we might have seen a fumble.

In all honesty our defense is sudden and exciting. Too bad it isn't realistic for them to win it when the other 2 phases are giving it away.

There were dropped passes but there were also plenty of ducks thrown to wide open WRs and bad decisions of throwing into double coverage.

Face it -- our offense sucks vs the Titans and Bortles is a big part of that.  Reflecting back on the September game vs the Titans, we scored 13 of our 16 points in the 4th quarter at garbage time when we were down 30-3

Yesterday we mirrored that 3 point offensive game plan again vs the Titans.

I'm ok with the Defense having confidence in themselves but they shouldn't make any hypothetical (win) assumptions knowing our offense (and Bortles) totally sucks vs the Titans.

I can't read minds, of course, but I get the sense that many of Bortles' picks are borne of desperation, more than anything else.  That seemed to be the case yesterday.

I disagree. Bortles wasn’t great but he had several decent throws dropped. The Westbrook pass was beautiful and would likely have won the game. They commit too much to the run when it isn’t working thinking that’ll it magically open up

I think I misunderstood you, but I do think it was too conservative. If I were the Bills, I'd sell out to stop the run for the first two quarters. Because it seems like we try to force the run for two quarters, and it isn't until the second half that we implement a 50/50 split with passing.

I think I misunderstood you, but I do think it was too conservative. If I were the Bills, I'd sell out to stop the run for the first two quarters. Because it seems like we try to force the run for two quarters, and it isn't until the second half that we implement a 50/50 split with passing.

I know you weren't asking me, but I'm answering anyway...I'm not sure the game plan was too conservative, but it was too predictable...It reminded me of when JDR said we were going to run the ball even if they put 9 guys in the box, and then POOF 3 and out more than not...There is never any question of what we are going to do offensively, run run pass (short of the first down marker generally)... Occasionally we will throw in different order or a deep pass, but for the opposing DC it's really not hard to game plan against us...

Are we shaming BB for dropped passes and muffed punts?  Where's the logic and common sense?  Or is it the hangovers speaking?

I like Dareus more now as a person and player, a little bit of salt never hurt anybody! lol. 

No hangover, he is a big part of the problem, that is why he is the center of discussion even in a completely unrelated topic. I wish it wasn't, but when you need a QB, its on everyone's mind and there is bleed over(see how many BLake threads we have started lol). The defense did more than enough to win this game. They outscored our offense and Special teams COMBINED man! They beat our offense 6-0, ST 6-4, by themselves! This is why Blake is the talk, QB is the guy who touches the ball on every play, when you lose the QB is the most scrutinized, on every NFL team. We should try to stay on topic though.  Dareus is a tack hater through and through and I am 100% OK with that.

My thought is this. Considering the strong possibility of playing the tacks again in a week, do you empty your playbook for them to see in game you absolutely do not have to win? Conversely, the tacks had to pull out all of the stops in that game. From a strategy standpoint, the Jags held all of the cards. 

It seemed to me that the offensive playcalling was especially conservative, and this may have been why.

I get the reasoning. But am I misunderstanding that if we beat the Tacks they miss the playoffs? Especially all the fuss about playing to win this week. 

Unless they were just trying to hide the plays and hope they won regardless, lol. Not sure I buy it but it sounds better than the alternative. Main reason I'm having trouble thinking that is that this is hardly the first time we've played like this. I'm really starting to buy into the idea that Bortles and Fournette aren't conpatible. Fournette likes a power run offense, lining up in the I formation. Bortles likes rolling with the shotgun. This makes our plays extremely easy to read with Fournette in. Nevermind the fact that we like to run, run, pass on top of all that.
