I doubt it is likely anyone else would say something so offensive under those circumstances. I think Trump said it knowing it would get out, and appeal to his base. This thread apparently confirms the latter.

Are you talking about when Obama called Libya a "[BLEEP] show"? That's one African country, and he was talking about the escalating violence after Gaddafi's death, not the entire country, and certainly not the entire continent. The lengths Trumpettes will go to defend their boy is truly remarkable. It is not political correctness to show decorum, it's respect for the office, and mankind in general.

So many things to say hear, and I only read the first page so far.
Do some of you truly believe that people from Norway do not want to live here, in the Unites States? They wouldn't want to take their ideas, their ingenuity and the entrepreneur mindset to basically the birthplace of capitalism? In a market of roughly 5 million, do you believe these people enjoy paying 60-70% in taxes? Yes, they would love to be here. However, as opposed to "Other Countries", trying coming to the United States from a country such as Norway is basically impossible. We show less advertisements to registered users. TJ, I understand some of the points that you are making and to an extent I agree. Perhaps Trump's comments were not the most appropriate, definitely not presidential but as many have said on here, it's hard to really disagree. As for Haiti, I am not sure where you live, I don't know anything about you, you could be from Haiti. If you are, or whoever you are, that makes you no less of a person and IMO this is the mindset of most conservatives, I do not dislike or judge people as individuals. However, when you see the same things over and over and over from the same groups of people, it becomes a little difficult not to expect the same. Again I mention this but I am not sure where you are from, but take a trip to South Florida. Deal with some Haitians, deal with them your whole life like I have. Then come back and tell me that it is some coincidence or chain of bad events that their country looks that way that it does. This is petty but it is a great example of the ridiculousness. I have a mango tree in my front yard. This year I did not have the pleasure of eating one delicious juicy mango, that grew in my yard, because Haitians took them all. The neighbor down the street had a huge mango tree that he had to cut down because Haitians kept climbing the tree to get the mangos. It is obviously a liability at this point so he had no choice but to cut it down. This is just one example but all of these things ultimately lead to land value decrease. But who does this? Normal people have a standard and that standard does not involve climbing other people's trees to pick mangos. I know to some it sounds racist that I say "Haitians" did this, but it is the absolute truth. What group of civilized people act like this? In my predicament, would I rather have neighbors who are from Norway, or from Haiti?

And so would lots of your other neighbors. Well, I hate to tell you this, but if I lived near a mango tree, I might have me some of those mangos too. I love mangos.

The entire argument from most liberals has boiled down to calling conservatives racists and bigots. Even when liberals do and say the same things, it's different because ... they had different motives. Since you guys define everyone's motives, the conservatives will always be racists and bigots unable to justify their opinions / actions. You can't explain how what he said is inaccurate so you assign motive. So, again, calling something facts when they aren't facts isn't an argument. First of all, "the entire argument from most liberals has boiled down to" is just you arguing how most conservatives argue. See what I did there? Moving on... You're saying calling Libya a [BLEEP] show is the same as calling all countries in Africa [BLEEP]. It's not about motives, it's about context. Do you remember what was happening in Libya at the time during the time period about which Obama was quoted, and the subject of the interview? They were talking specifically about the events occurring after Gaddafi's death. He was not talking about the Libyans in general. Trump, on the other hand, asked why we want anyone from any African country. Yes, many of those countries are [BLEEP], but does that mean they all are, and none of their people are talented or hard working? One was talking about a specific situation in a specific country, the other was making a generality about the people from an entire continent. This is not a subjective opinion, it's an objective appraisal of both statements. Reconcile that one for me.

No, Trump was referring to the Visa Lottery which specifically prioritizes people from certain countries to be immigrants to the US. In that context it's a valid question to ask why the US is giving priority to immigrants from [BLEEP] Hole countries. He wasn't claiming that every African country was a [BLEEP] Hole, or talking about every citizen of the [BLEEP] Hole countries. And interestingly enough, Obama supported the rebels in Libya who overthrew and killed Gaddafi. He was among those responsible for turning Libya into a [BLEEP] Hole.
