Looking at getting a tablet for my wife for her birthday. Looking to be in the $350 range max. She likes the Galaxy 10.1 but hasnt looked at anything else. Anyone have any experiences or recommendations?

I've got an iPad...and I love it. I think it's more for the convenience and ease of use than it being an iPad per se. I do have an iPhone also...so it's easy to switch between the two for me, especially with iMessage.

That's my $.02 on the subject.

Remember when tablets were bound sheets of lined paper?  In grade school I used Big Chief Writing Tablets.  Anyone else use those?

Sorry, csharp, for the slight detour.

I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and tablet.  The tablet is a 7 inch and the previous generation.  I am not in love with it the way I am with my Galaxy phone.  I know people with Kindle Fire's and they absolutely love them.  Also, as unpopular as Microsoft is, the Microsoft tablets are supposed to be pretty solid as well.

When my son was four I dressed him up as Elvis for Halloween!! He has dark brown hair already so I added some stick on mutton chops and made him a white satin jumpsuit and cape with a sequin eagle on the back. I taught him to say "thank you...Thank you very much" with his lip cocked up....

It was the cutest thing ever!!!!

Asus or Samsung are two brands that are very hard to go wrong with.

I bought my lady a Samsung Galaxy tablet. I went with an 8" screen which makes it a bit more portable.

She absolutely LOVES it.

For your price range, Google Nexus 7 and the 7 inch Kindle Fire HDX are solid choices.  It really depends on the size of the tablet you want.  Samsung Galaxy Tabs are a bit lower end devices (Notes are the higher end) but fine for most menial tasks.

I have the Microsoft Surface Pro and finally found the one tablet I want.  Its definitely pricey though.

What's the difference in the Samsungs? I bought the Galaxy Note 8.0, but didn't even know there were different grades, or lower quality ones.

The surface tablets are great, if I didn't already have two tablets I would get one.
