He comes off like an endearing "every-man" in his pressers - is very transparent about his coaching and experiences  in pressers - not condescending at all unless someone asks a really stupid question  -  and most folks in Jax (even those that didn't like the hire) have become fans.

Sure that makes sense and I don’t doubt it.  It sounds like he learned a lot from the first stint coaching which happens a lot with coaches.   That was one of my points - he was a different person in Buffalo.

Also despite what some think here, most in the fan base are not lamenting Marrone leaving.  Especially now considering the current coach took a team with less talent to the playoffs.  Just sharing some of the reasons why some of the fan base has issues with Marrone.

Many of us have a (somewhat) similar view of Coughlin. Many were not sad to see him go (he was making mistakes)  and he clearly had to adjust his approach to dealing with players and his desire to be a dictator within the organization after going to NY.  He became a better coach in the process.

I just completely disagree with that statement. I still follow most of the local news stations there and 3/4 of my friends are from there. Any time Marrone is brought up, it's an ordeal

The local newspaper here Buffalo News took a survey and McDermott had a 97% fan approval rating. So trust me when I say fans aren’t lining that he gone. They just don’t like him based on his stint in Buffao

They may not yearn for him to be their current coach, but I'd imagine the events of January 7th, 2018 stung the fan base and opened up old wounds.  Losing to the guy who left first time in the post season after that historic drought must be a tough pill to swallow.  It will be for me.

The issue in Buffalo now becomes, do I dislike Marrone or the Pats more?  One camp says: I hope the Pats crash and burn for all the torture to our franchise.  But that'll mean Marrone is the big dawg who takes them down.  The other camp says: I hope that sour coach crashes and burns for leaving.  But that'll mean the Pats rule, again.  I can imagine the conundrum in Buffalo football world as an outside observer of the championship game.  Where do you stand, Rush?

My thing is that if Marrone were such a non entity there, he still wouldn't be on the lips of Bills fans some three seasons removed from his tenure.

But go to twobillsdrive, and it won't take long to find threads dedicated to him.  Many posts in other threads still drip with anger and resentment towards him. 

No, you may not want him back, but he's still living rent free in the consciousness of Bills fans.

Great question.  I think the way I see it is similar to about 85% of Bills fans.  While we may not love Doug Marrone, the majority of us are still pulling for the Jaguars tomorrow.  If you read the original post, I stated it there and several other places.  That being sad, I've watched my fair share of losses (to put it mildly) to New England.  It will take a huge effort and the bounces will really have to go the Jags way.  Because all these loses and last year's Super Bowl made me unfortunately realize Tom Brady is hands-down the greatest QB of All-Time and Belichick is one helluva schemer who always has his team ready.  New England always get the calls from the refs too - that doesn't hurt
