NFL fandom wide I think people far prefer Jackson, but on these boards I agree Rudolph has more support (or at least far louder support). Also - As I (and others) mentioned since January - One possible solution at RG is to draft a tackle fairly early that could take over for Parnell in a year or two but play RG in the meantime. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I would agree with this.
The thing with QB is that I dont see many options beyond Round 2. Realistic Targets might be Rudolph at the end of 1 or Luke Falk in 2-3. I looked at most of the other prospects and I honestly do not see them making a big impact for us, even a year from now. Too many question marks about mechanics and/or arm strength. Even the two I mentioned are not a safe bet when it comes to NFL starter potential. I wanna see a more of a pocket passer behind Bortles and I suppose Rudolph would fit in well. TE is the next thing we need to draft, that will be addressed in Round 1 (if Rudolph is gone), or 2. I think the Jags then look for a Nickel in Round 3.
Okay, I think our top 3 needs as of this minute are:
Nickle Back (this is basically a starting position, since NB plays about 65% of the snaps in the NFL.) Tight End (We need a real weapon at this spot to help pull that 8th man out of the box) Wide Receiver (We can upgrade our WR corps pretty easily.) So, my strategy at this point would be to draft the best player available, preferably at one of those positions.

Top needs ranking assuming Moncrief is the new split-end starter...

Sorry, but his contract is not the contract of a QB that you like and that says a lot more than words. It's the contract of a QB that you think you can hide behind a top 5 pick at RB and an insanely expensive oline and defense. It's a need and we know it, they know it, and even Blake knows it. Now whether they address it is a completely different question and I agree that despite it being the biggest need to me it probably won't happen in the first round. The Jags are basically out of money to sign any more big free agent contracts so my list going into the draft is this: 1. TE (Goedert in the 1st) 2. Backup QB (Rudolph may fall to round 2 or the Jags trade up a few spots to get him in the 2nd) 3. Offensive tackle/guard (Alex Cappa in the 3rd or 4th) 4. NB (Duke Dawson in the 3rd or Rashaun Gaulden in the 4th) 5. D-Line (Wild-card position since team will have to let a couple high-priced guys go before long- likely will take a developmental guy later in draft. 6. WR/RB (Jaylen Samuels - who can play anywhere) |
