It's more than Alshon Jeffery's one year prove it deal, and he had actually proven to be near elite when healthy just like Arob.

We're not just gambling on health we're paying for upside that he hasn't shown.

AR15 still has to prove this as well...1 year doesn't make you elite.

Just playing with stats,  If you take out AR15 2015 year would you still call him "pro bowl caliber'?

Taking out their injury years (2017) and their best years (2015)  the biggest difference is #of targets.

Similar AVGs and Moncrief had 2 more TDs on 59 less receptions.

No denying AR15 was a Pro Bowler in 2015 but do you want to pay for 1 year coming off an ACL with the 2014/2016 AR15?

For the record I prefer AR15 but this wasn't a slam dunk decision like some make it out to be.

It's a really bad deal, but it's not as bad as the DJ Hayden deal since it's just one year. We probably did hand out two of the worst 3 or 4 deals this period though. Norwell better wash away a lot of sins.

Yea Moncrief would have been more palpable at the 7M or less and the Hayden has me completely puzzled. I feel like the Norwell/ASJ signings make it a good FA though.

I think that's probably true, but they could have tagged him. (I think I would have tagged him, but I'm not privy to his medical reports post -injury, so the Jags had more info to decide with)

Still, I don't hate the Moncreif signing even if it's a bout 3 million more than it should be. I've been sort of waiting/expecting for him to have a big break-out season with the colts, and I'd like to see it happen with the Jags instead.

Idzik is in control of the cap now and he's one of the best in the league. A lot of the deals are essentially 2 year deals (outside of Norwell but he's a top 3 guard in the league) which allows the team to get out of the deals with little to no dead money.

I really don't see any parallels.

We managed to pay Norwell/ASJ and still find a way to give Moncrief and Marqise ~3 mil more than the franchise tag, so that logic doesn't work. We could have easily had Norwell, ASJ, AND Arob.

And who cares about if Arob wanted to be here or not. He would have been forced to try his hardest so he could have cashed in next year. I think the evidence is pointing toward the FO not wanting Arob to be here more than Arob not wanting to be here.

Removing the year he went to the pro bowl and asking if he's still a pro bowl caliber WR doesn't make much sense.  

He's had historic age adjusted production. Had a down year in a terrible offense/team with one of the worst QBs in football (at the time) followed by an ACL injury this year.

Hopefully it's just the natural pessimist in me, but that offseason we felt like we were so close to being elite and overpaid for a few FAs that actually set us back rather than improved the team. For Moncrief and Hayden read Porter and Florence. Then of course we traded up in the draft to fill what we thought was our last need (pass rusher) and absolutely screwed the pooch. 

I realise there are a ton of differences too, and I'm probably being unnecessarily negative, but having low expectations worked out great last season so I'm not changing now lol

I think the evidence is pointing toward the F.O. not liking what the doctors were telling them about A-Rob's knee rehab.
