The Annual Site Wide Mock
|
Ian Thomas it is for Miami. That simply took way too long.
Upper and the 49ers are on the clock.

The Niners didn't really want to go with a big back complement to prized, and expensive, FA RB Jerick Mckinnon this early (someone like Scarbrough in day 3 makes more sense in real life)...but in the third round Nick Chubb is too good of a value to pass on.
The 49ers gracefully bow out of the rest of this mock by selecting Nick Chubb, RB from Georgia. Good luck to everyone left picking.
The Raiders select WR Michael Gallup (Colorado State) to be the future replacement for Jordy Nelson.

The Cincinnati Bengals need help by finding a linebacker who does well in coverage. That has been an achilles heel of theirs. With that in mind, the Bengals select LB Unchenna Nwosu of USC, as they view him as the best coverage LB in the draft.

The current pick has now been on the clock for 21 hours. It mignt be time to think about voting again.

Allen is a box safety type. Much better in run support than in coverage.

My vote would definitely be for Safety Marcus Allen of Penn State. There's not much left, when it comes to true Free Safeties and IMO, it's their #1 need. The only other move I might make here is possibly to take an ILB like Micah Kiser and hope FS Tarvarius Moore is there for them in round 4. That would be a solid move as well, but If Moore is gone, I really don't see a standout FS left. I believe this pick is just too early for Moore though. The Cheifs can use interior OL and interior DL.

He's slow to read plays and is a sloppy tackler. I don't think he's getting drafted and if he does, I believe it will be very late and probably as a special teams player. Looking at the Chiefs needs, they can use defensive help up front. Sam Hubbard is still available, and he probably shouldn't even still be on the board. He'd make for an ideal DE in their 3-4 defense.

He's a really talented player and should've been taken long ago, but at 6'5" and only 270 lbs (Combine stats), he'd likely have to add 15-20 lbs. to play DE in a 3-4 scheme. At his current size, he'd be more of an OLB in a 3-4. He's just more of a run stuffer than a pass rusher.
