Where he will throw to unfamiliar receivers...Scouts understand the situation. They want to see him compete and watch his mechanics and check out his arm strength. To me it is showing he has something to hide if you ask me.

He's protecting his draft stock. So-so QB prospects are more likely to hurt their draft stock than to help it at the senior bowl throwing to unknown WRs running an unfamiliar offensive scheme. He's better off showing off at the combine/Pro Day where he's not required to do anything but throw.

In his defense, EJ manuel went to the combine, increased his draft stock on the bills board enough to be the first QB off the board, and Really didn't play all that well this year for a first round draft pick so IMO it doesn't matter what u do, skip the senior bowl, go to the senior bowl, in the end it matters what u do at the next level playing against seasoned NFL competition, not against people who might be your competition

E.J may or may not be the Bills' future QB, but he was the Senior Bowl MVP and improved his stock enough to be a first round pick, thus, he earned more money that way.

I don't to draft someone who went to the senior bowl in order to get paid more.... I want to draft someone who will be a starter in the league for more than 4 years.

You are missing the point completely.  The reason why E.J got paid more was because he did the smart thing and participated in the Senior Bowl to improve his draft stock; that is the main point of the Senior Bowl -- for NFL coaches to find diamond in the rough prospects and for the mid-rounders to improve their draft stock.

Where did you get that idea from? Louisville is a major college football team at the highest level. I doubt you would say that if the Cardinals were already in the ACC, where they will be next season.

 

What he's referring to is the fact Teddy backed out of a commitment to Miami.  Miami may not be playing well, but they are a historically much higher caliber program than Louisville, and I would expect Louisville to have a rude awakening in the ACC.

 

We'll never know what he would have done in the ACC because he left early (which, of the two commitments he's backed out of I understand most.)

 

But if I were him, I'd skip the combine, just like AJ.  That way all they see of me, is what I present.  He's going to want to steer them towards what they already like, and steer them away from getting a better idea of his size.

Just because he decommitted on big programs and decided to enroll at a smaller school has nothing to do with his skillset.  Just so you know, his playing at a smaller school means that he is working with lower quality of talents around him.  In fact, there isn't another prospect on that Louisville team that actually receives a mid-round grade.  Why do you think DeVante Parker decided to stay for another year even after his QB and coach decided to leave?  And for the record, his Louisville team would easily beat any of those big schools he decommitted.  Maybe they should have done a better job recruiting him?

 

 

McCarron decided to skip the Senior Bowl so that he can get ready for the combine, not the otehr way around.  And to even suggest that Bridgewater should skip the NFL combine -- huh? -- so that he can protect his draft status for fear that NFL executives could see him in his undies is by far the dumbest post I've read on this board.  And this one is coming from a moderator.....I don't know what to say.

Last year, I got why Geno skipped because he was the consensus #1 QB, at least at that time, but in hindsight, I'm sure he could've helped his stock by going.

My concern isn't a rookie contract.


My concern is that whoever we take at QB, he is wildly successful. Going to a mid major does not preclude NFL success.
