Jags Select Taven Bryant

Our DL was getting gashed against the run until we signed Dareus

Plus - let's not forget Coughlin's Brady-beating strategy with the giants... waves of pass rushers. Endless waves of pass rushers.

You guys are hilarious lol

Not what I expected as a pick, but I like it.

Jag's fans are funny. Before the pick we were saying "we've got enough talent now to be able to go BAP!" After the pick we're saying "Good God, we needed an offensive lineman, what were they *thinking?" When you pick 29th you're options are a little more limited but I have no doubt they thought of Bryan as that guy.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

I think it's a good pick.

He may have been the best player available. That argument can be made. And while we may not see the immediate need, we have a huge need in 2019, because at least one or more of our highly paid veterans on the defensive line are going to have to depart for us to stay under the salary cap. And in the meantime, he can play. More pass rushers. More depth. It's a good pick.

Wouldn't be surprised if Dareus is traded in the next 24 hours for a mid-late round pick. Malik is going nowhere.

p.s. - what has Smoot accomplished at this level to earn such praise from some of you? He is just a guy so far. A guy who needs to show up more in games.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Definitely great stuff by that guy

Makes me feel better.  Thanks for this lil cutup

You guys make me laugh.

Do you want to go back to 2008 all over again?

Same situation; coming off a great year. We think we only “need” this and that player bad we’re over the top.

Look how that worked out.

This is BAP pick.

If you don’t like it, tough cookies. Sorry we didn’t draft a overhyped WR in the first round.

Well, the board hasn't disappointed me one bit this morning.

Brady sure wasn’t getting pressured in the 2nd half of that game....

Initially wasn’t too happy because Goedert and Hernandez were there but this is Coughlin and company now. This isn’t Gene and Gus. It’s a different regime and I trust they know what they’re doing.

I’m very curious as to who would have been the pick had Bryan not been there.

I don't like Gator linemen and found this pick to be rather anticlimactic. Hopefully today will be an improvement.

We were very fortunate that we didn't have any major injuries last year. Adding depth to the DL is a great idea, when you couple that with future potential and the need to cut one of our expensive guys next year, this pick makes perfect sense.

As for Jackson, he ain't a franchise QB, otherwise he'd have gone quicker. I also get the people who wanted Hernandez, but I think there are other guards still out there

In the happy, meh, or mad thread Bryan was mentioned one whole time and it was in the meh section. That pretty much encapsulates what we all thought about it before the homerism that has to validate all things front office kicked in. No one should really be happy or mad about it, it was a perfectly middle of the road pick.
I was initially meh-unhappy with it but I think that’s most in part because I wanted Hernandez and hadn’t really considered we’d take a DT so I did next to no research on them. It’s not homerism to see nearly every media outlet praise him and watch him impose his will on OGs and C while he’s being double teamed. This guy has ridiculous upside and a really high floor too. Those are the ones you want. Flashes big time on tape consistently and blows up at the combine. We’re gonna love having him on the roster for a long time

Well if you asked this 5 minutes before the pick everyone would have said our needs are G, TE, and WR with a smattering of QB, LB, and nickel CB mixed in...and Hernandez, Daniels, Goedert, Sutton, Jackson, and Rudolph were on the board. So any of those guys.

Bryan was a fine gamble pick, and no one is denying he has great upside, but there were equivalent talents at positions of bigger need.

You don’t draft need you draft BAP.

Again, look at times past when we drafted for need and look where it got us.

How many first round busts and losing years does it take for people to get it that needs base drafting is inherently inferior?

I do admit he maybe has the most upside out of all the defensive players in this draft

But he will hardly contribute this season. We want to run the ball so much but pass on top OL

Yeah, it's really rare that guys go to the NFL before getting some kind of graduate degree.

It waa a good pick. Your inside linemen are relatively old and will eventually need successors. We had to look to the future.
