Why does size matter so much?

These replies show why I asked the question in the first place:

Quote:It doesn't matter to me if the QB has all other tools necessary to succeed I just don't see that in Manziel

Quote:It is not about the size of the boat; it's the motion in the ocean.

Quote:Its not the size that matters, but how you use it

Quote:Some would say the bigger the better but, again, it's not black and white.

Apparently, whether size matters or not depends on his playing style, as others have suggested. Do you agree with that?

JW, how old are you? Serious question.

I will be 37 in a couple weeks. I was born exactly one year after Fred Taylor.

Ok, hint: 3 of the 4 replies you listed above are not about football.

"Size of the boat . . . motion in the ocean" is a metaphor. Change the words to player and on the field, and it absolutely is about football.

The phrase "It is not black and white" is an idiom when used that way that can be applied to anything, including football.

So yes, those two replies in that post can be applied to football.

What is the metaphor about?

Quote:What is the metaphor about?

What players do on the field that increases or decreases a player's risk of getting hurt.

That's not what Google told me.

Don't worry about Google. I know what I am talking about. It depends on what players do on the field whether someone gets hurt or not regardless of how big or small he is. How do I know that? Easy: I have seen a lot of 300-pound linemen get hurt, that's how.

So from a woman's perspective, it is more about the motion of the ocean?

This is awesome!!!

From anyone's perspective, it is about motion on the field. Someone compared it to motion in the ocean, hence the metaphor.

You missed out on a lot of entertainment lol. I wanted to know why people make such a big deal about the height and weight of a player who is very good at his job and got complments for asking.

This is where the hand size question started, not TMD's thread. It also covers foot size and hairstyles LOL.

No one has ever...ever...used THAT metaphor to describe football.

Good job.
