It's difficult to even fathom the aftermath. What a nightmare it would be to not address QB or LEO with the 3rd overall pick

Luke Joeckel struggled hard at RT, he's not going to go back.. Paztor has played well.. so if we take Matthews we're essentially giving up on Joeckel..

Not happening.
Luke would be the LT and Matthews would be the RT. And everyone headin to the Modis

Trade next year's entire draft to move back in the first to take Manziel, duh.

That's what the 2016 draft is for.

Caldwell has no stones if he passes on Bortles/Bridgewater/Manziel if any one of them are there.

Not happening.

Luke did NOT struggle at RT. In fact, his play at right tackle was convincing enough to trade away Monroe, who made it clear he would not cooperate with a switch. Luke was injured unavoidably in his first game since winning the left tackle job.

Luke's former Texas A&M team mate Jake Matthews may very well provide the Jaguars with a great opportunity to draft a second elite, franchise offensive tackle.

Under no circumstances does drafting a second franchise offensive tackle suggest we are giving up on Joeckel.

Having elite talent is the goal of any GM.

Review the top of the last draft:

Kansas City drafted Eric Fisher 1. We drafted Luke Joeckel 2. Philadelphia drafted Lane Johnson 4.

The Chiefs already had Branden Albert, considered a franchise left tackle. The Eagles already had Jason Peters, also considered to be a franchise talent at OT. While it's debatable that Eugene Monroe was franchise quality, he was at least a veteran of numerous seasons.

So, two of the three teams that took consensus elite-level offensive tackles inside the top four of round one already had a seemingly elite offensive tackle.

Again, if you can draft elite talent...you could not possibly care less about what position the elite player plays. You draft elite talent.

Quote:Did the board crash when the Jaguars unexpectedly took Tyson Alualu with pick # 10 in 2010?

While I currently don't expect the Jaguars to draft an Offensive Lineman with pick # 3 this year,   even if they did draft Matthews,  it wouldn't be more surprising than the Alualu pick in 2010.

The board crashed but it wasn't unexpected. :woot:
