McCarron skipping Senior Bowl

My concern is that whoever we take at QB, he is wildly successful. Going to a mid major does not preclude NFL success.

I totally agree on that point.

I do think it's in a player's interest to play against the highest level of competition possible, though, too.

McCarron is skipping senior bowl because he thinks he's a top 20 pick:

I know it's a league desperate for QBs, but I can't understand how he'd see himself going on either of the first two days.

He'll go round three, if he's lucky.

I think with a strong combine and pro day he could be Rd 2 or 3 selection. A lot of QB needy teams out there.

And a lot of less than impressive QBs at the top of this draft, too.

Locker, Gabbert, and Ponder all went before pick 20.

The QB starved will draft high if there appears to be a "run" on QBs.

After all, is career is better than he gets credit for.  Two championships is about as rare as it gets.  I don't feel he's the chopped liver he's made out to be.

IMO he is nothing more than a game manager in the NFL...I see him as Andy Dalton-esque.

That would be a nice pickup in the second round.  Nothing wrong with that at all.

I remember when crazier things have happened like EJ Manuel being the first QB selected. I remember Ponder going in the first round. But in all honesty, he should be nowhere near pick 20.

McCarron is crazy if he thinks he is a first rounder. E.J was rated as the third or fourth best QB prior to the Senior Bowl, in which he was named MVP. He is also 6'5 235 lb. and has a Cam-like upside, so it wasn't that big of a surprise that he was drafted in the first round.

EJ Manual isn't even close to the same upside as Cam Newton.

Just consider who it is that's discounting him and you'll be more comfortable with your own assessment.

I said Cam-like, didn't say the same.

Per rotoworld:

Quote:Report states McCarron has injured shoulder

Alabama senior QB A.J. McCarron has an injured left shoulder, according to Jason Cole of the National Football Post. Cole writes this is why McCarron decided to not attend the Senior Bowl. "Some people believe McCarron dropped out of the game because he did not want to test his arm against other quarterbacks who are believed to have stronger throwing ability," Cole added. So many players are nicked up during the season, some choose to attend all star events and others do the opposite.
