Jalen Ramsey Suspended for One Week (Update: Fowler Suspended too)
|
If I'm being honest, the mental toughness of the defense should definitely be in question at this point. Thank god for guys like Calais, Telvin, and Bouye holding it together who are more levelheaded. There were multiple times down the stretch last year when the defense started getting challenged, punched in the mouth, and the reaction was whining, personal fouls, and continued unraveling. When they're dominating, all is good, but they let up a big play and tend to come unglued. I think in general this is a good thing for Couglin to send the message and so that Ramsey has a week off and less chance of injury.

The group needs a meeting of the minds and get this crap taken care of before the regular season. Tensions are high during camp/pre-season guys are digging to get ready mentally and physically for a long grueling NFL season. Reporters have to acknowledge this as well and know when it's appropriate to approach an athlete and when it isn't. We don't need a divided room of divas getting in the way of where this team can go.
No pain, no gain.

I'm not saying Marrone wouldn't do the same thing but we know Coughlin would. I don't disagree but like I said, we know Coughlin's heavy hand from his previous tenure. We know Marrone is no nonsense but how hard he is with it we haven't really seen yet. I think it's a tandem team between the two of them and I'm glad for it. These kids need to know how to act and react to situations. This is their job, not something they do as a hobby and can just do what they want.

I for one would not be against trading him if we could get a high draft pick. He has been somewhat of a cancer on the team and out in public so yes I would consider a trade if one was available. Hey, somehow Johnny Manziel was drafted even with his laundry list of stupidity so yeah, someone could be desperate enough to take Fowler. (08-12-2018, 08:08 PM)JagFanatic24 Wrote: This is so petty. What team is going to give up a draft pick for said cancer, coming off a mysterious shoulder injury, in his final contract year, who’s already been suspended for week one stemming from last years issues? His value is on this team, at least for this year. Best case scenario is that we hope he has a career year here, signs a fat contract elsewhere, and we get to collect the compensatory pick, which depending on how much he signs his new contract for, can be as high as a 3rd rounder. I’m willing to bet the compensatory pick would be higher than anything you would get for him in a trade right now. Taking a gamble on a player in a draft is one thing. Taking a gamble on a known issue is another. There’s a laundry list of current free agent players in this same predicament who are still waiting by the phone for a second or third shot, i.e Johnny Manziel.

Pass rushers are at a premium in this league. There is a huge difference though. Those guys have either never proven anything in the NFL (i.e. johnny Manziel) or are on the downside of their careers (i.e. Dez Bryant). Fowler is a young guy who doubled his sack total in one season, in a limited role. I'd be willing to bet there would be NFL teams "chomping at the bit" to trade for him. Figures. I wonder if it was Blake what would have happened. Anyway Jalen go on ahead and do your thing. You can have success on any other team. Don't sweat this BS.

Heck, he's actually staying within the rules by doing so unlike other protesters who are holding fists up and practically promoting violence as their means to protest violence. Those dimwits are publically disrespecting the flag, and why? If their issue is so huge, where were their protests throughout the offseason? At any rate, if you must protest, do it by staying off the field and not disrespecting the flag. In my book, Ramsey should be praised here for setting a good example. Not showing respect is to go out there and kneel or raise a fist. By not going out, he chose to distance himself from the situation. He wasn't there in order to not show respect, and he's acting entirely within the rules and guidelines set forth by the league.

I agree that fowler will likely get us more in compensatory picks then he will in a trade right now. Unless Cleveland/Colts/Cowboys come calling, then maybe we would have something. One of our indiana friends should put a buzz in irsays ear that Fowler would take the clots over the top.

Quote: According to the AP, General Manager Dave Caldwell had to step in to the effort to separate the two defensive ends outside the practice field. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20...ssion=true Sounds like Yannick probably should’ve gotten in trouble too but Fowler was the “one the teacher caught talking in class”....remember those days lol

From what I heard, Blake was first one in the mix to pull O’Shann from Fowler and Fowler shoved Blake. Yannick came over and said some words to Fowler. Fowler didn’t appreciate the verbal scolding and fired back at Yannick. Escalated from there, even into the locker room and into parking lot. It’s a bunch of Alphas so to be expected but when it can’t be squashed off the field there is an issue. Fowler just doesn’t get it yet. Needs to realize the pecking order and at this point he is quickly becoming expendable. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
