Chris Carter is an idiot

He says the Jags don’t have great crowd support and teams would love to play us in January at home. Then he goes on to cite the Patriots and Steelers as teams with great crowd support. Did he not see the game last week in our over capacity stadium? How about the sellout crowd against the Bills in the playoffs? What’s about our road warriors who showed up in Pittsburgh where all you could hear on tv was “Duval” chants. Why must he add fuel to this false misconception about our fanbase? I think he needs a run in with Jaguars twitter....

Carter is doing his best Cowherd Impression. Swing at Jacksonville because we are low hanging fruit who is gaining a little traction after years of sucking. It is just going to make it more fun to watch if this team wins it all and they have to actually push out something positive about this franchise.
There was quite a bit of red in the stands, from what I saw on TV. There aren't as many Jags fans as fans of other teams. It's just one of the things you have to take on the chin as a Jags fan, and probably about half the teams in the NFL, frankly.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

I realize that and understand that our market+the relatively young age our franchise will play into this notion for a while. But to make it a point to say it creates a obvious disadvantage(for us) or advantage for visiting teams is just stupid. I remember when we sucked and the crowd seemed louder for the visiting teams than it would for our team making a play(which were few and far between for a while). But it hasn't felt that way for a while. Then the dip [BLEEP] carter went on to say this a stat or point that he looks at when looking at playoff teams. which is funny because I don't think I remember him ever saying this when talking on pre game shows or making picks lol. who cares.... most teams cant sell out their stadium on a consistent basis. we cant either. besides, our fans get loud enough that we dont need to pipe in crowd noise like the falcons, colts, etc... we're fine. chris carter is paid to say something and this is all he has.

Exactly. What else can he say but the proverbial “They don’t have fans” line? He couldn’t even go to the usual “Blake Bortles is holding this team back line.” That’s the go to.
Oh well who cares. I want him to sell this idea that teams have some fake advantage over the jags lol. Makes the blowouts more probably lol
I lost brain cells watching that segment. I don’t entirely disagree with the crowd comments though. When I go to Denver games, there isn’t a single empty seat and the atmosphere is more intense. It was an electric enviorment in Duval last Sunday. But there were still empty seats in the upper level. There were plenty of patriots fans especially around me, but that’s to be expected since they are a popular team. And last year for the turn around we were having and being successful, the crowd wasn’t impressive on tv. Now I do think if we go far this year and keep winning, I think next years attendance will only get better. If build a team that dominates year in and year out I don’t think this will be a conversation in another year or two.
I think it’s dumb to say we don’t have a home field advantage. We have won what, 7 or 8 in a row at home. Our team is young and emotional and plays a lot better when we are at home. Regardless of weather. That’s overblown. Both teams feel heat or cold are are trained to play football. Also dumb to waste time complaining about our receivers. Moncrief was a weapon in the end zone. Our tight ends moved the chains and scored a touchdown. Cole went over a hundred, made highlight catches and scored a touchdown. Dede made a play with his legs and busted a long touchdown. Only question was our rookie receiver who go beat bad trying to do a fade on the right side of the end zone and who coughed up the ball from a great punch out. I know it was one game but it shows all our receivers and tight ends are capable of making more than enough plays. Bortles makes plays with his legs and his arm in back to back game and they still wanna complain about him We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Been there and it is amazing. But i also I think that things like the budzone keep fans out of thier seats and exaggerate the appearance of empty seats a bit.
If you go strictly on the past, in our losing years, yes we lacked fan support and had to cover seats, but things have definitely turned around in Jacksonville since Khan took over. The stadium was renovated, we brought in Marrone and TC and the team began to win...... alot! With those changes the stadium is now packed. Apparently Carter hasn't been keeping up. This is no longer 2012. There is tons of fan support for this small market team and it's growing every season.

The butts for those seats were in the Bud Zone.

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.

Having been at the game I can say there weren't as many Pat's fans there as you're making out. I saw them around obviously, but there weren't really that many. Having been to the Bill's game, it was MUCH more noticeable. And I think estimates were around 10k for the Bill's fans that showed up, 1/7th of our capacity. I will admit there was ONCE during the game i noticed the crowd cheer for the Patriots. Thankfully we didn't give them much else to cheer about and the boos drowned out the rest. It's funny you say you saw a lot of Red in the seats. All the Pat's fans I saw were wearing blue. There is a guy that sits behind me that always wears a red pro bowl Jersey for some reason, but hes a Jags fan. I also noticed that even for a sell out crowd, tons of seats were empty for the beginning of the game and halftime. Obviously people getting concessions and going to the Bud zone. But it does make me wonder how normal that is across the league. Would be curious to go to a Dallas game sometime to watch the crowd there. I think visiting fan totals are nearly always over-estimated, I've tried to figure out why and I guess there is a psychological factor at play...a different jersey or t-shirt tends to stand out against the home team colors. I saw a tweet from a Bills fan who claimed there were 20K Bills fans at that game, and the image he showed in support (one of the sections in the stadium) when you actually looked closely had around 100 Bills fans. It's hard to extrapolate that exactly but I think it demonstrates the idea. As far as attendance at other stadiums, you can compare Jags attendance to some of the dregs for comparison. Team Avg Home Stadium Capacity Tennessee 62,372 90.2 Arizona 61,613 94.8 Detroit 61,356 95.1 Indianapolis 58,699 93.2 Chicago 57,960 94.2 Washington57,013 69.5 Tampa Bay 56,552 86.2 Oakland 53,857 96.2 Cincinnati 50,018 76.3 Los Angeles 25,351 93.9
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Now that's an attendance problem.
For one thing....opposing fans are more likely to stay in their seats hoping/wishing to see their team do something rather than braving the crowded deck and inside the BudZone.
For another ....our stadium has so many nice places to hang out...and still see what's happening on the field. so I'm not surprised at all that some seats....especially on a really hot day...are sometimes empty.
Because Jaguars is our mantra
Did this really need to be stated?
I mean... water is wet. There. Same difference.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say! |
