Russell Wilson advancing to the SB, will elevate Johnny Football's drafting

Quote:Both smallish players who use their legs to escape many would be QB sacks, and make plays downfield. I didn't take offense to anything, I don't see the similarities that you do. I suppose you can make those comparisons....the issue with Johnny Football is what's going on between his ears. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! I'd be even more interested to hear how you got that from his single sentence. ![]()

Russel Wilson is interesting, but seems rather inconsistent.
Regardless, I don't really want Manziel.
Let's say they are similar players. Here's a major difference. Manziel is going to be a top 5 pick to a very untalented team, with expectations to be the savior, with media attention/hype, etc. So let's compare him to Russell Wilson, would Russell Wilson be a good QB if he was playing for the Raiders? Russell Wilson, like Andy Dalton, was put in a perfect situation. He has an amazing team around them and both are great at managing the game.
Manziel had the most talented players around him in college and could never win a championship with them. When he doesn't have the best WRs, or OL will, he still be good? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Thats one difference - Wilson is a game manager type, whereas Manziel is more gunslinger type. Give me the gunslinger, aggressive type all day. Not the guy who's scared to make an occasioal risky throw because he's trying to not lose the game.
Well, my other question. Will Manziel be any good if he doesn't have the best offensive line and more talented WRs? You really would like to spend the number 3 pick on a small, fast, QB with an average arm? At best, who is he? Russell Wilson? What small, fast, QB has ever dominated the NFL? Doug Flutie?
I'll take Bridgewater, who I think you would too, who could be like Luck... or Bortles, who could be like Big Ben or Flacco or better.

I'd take Bridgewater over Manziel as well, should the option present itself. That said, Brees is a small fast QB with an average arm as well. I think Manziel will be better than Wilson as a pro, if all things are equal.
Quote:May can't come fast enough Yes it can. We have the Senior Bowl, NFL Scouting Combine, college Pro Days, and private workouts to worry about, plus pre-draft trades and free agency. All of that will directly affect who we pick on May 8. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Huh??, I like Manziel. WHat I am saying is, he's going to have more universal appeal than before because of how people are in this league, i.e. copy cats. I'm kinda new here....but it looks like you're a marked man dude Quote:well why else would one question me labeling similarities between the 2 QB as if they couldn't be more different? Well, I don't know. Maybe...um...he wanted to see what you saw as similarities? Just a wild guess. ![]()

A&M had one of the worst defenses in all of college football. Heck, Duke never even punted once. Literally, the kid had to score on almost every possession just to stay even. If Russell Wilson and Andy Dalton were to trade teams, who would end up more successful?

Quote: about the same, maybe an ever so slight nod to Wilson
I don't get the Wilson - Manziel comparison. On the deep pass in the middle of the field in the NFC title game, Wilson moved around the pocket and bought time but still looked to throw deep. Granted, Manziel does this, but that play took something along the lines of 5-7 seconds to develop. No way does Manziel wait that long with a broken field in front of him. Now, he may be coached to do that, but I don't think it's in his toolbox right now.
I did find it interesting that Manziel actually threw for more yards than Wilson did in his Senior season, but considering the Burt Bielema Offense and the presence of Montee Ball that probably shouldn't have surprised me.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say! |
