Gruden's QB Camp

#1

Really pumped to see this years.  Gruden sitting down one on one and picking their brains.  Im more excited this year than any other year, should be a fun watch.  Manziel, Bortles, Teddy, Carr, McCarron, Garoppolo etc.  Who are yall most interested to see.

I would be interested in the big 3...Manziel, Bortles, and Teddy...I would add Garoppolo to that list after those guys...the rest I would not draft so I am not that interested in seeing them.

I haven't watched it since 2011.

Gabbert pretty much aced it, and Cam looked like a fool when he couldn't even recall a single play from his playbook.  So much for that year giving any insight.

I might give it a try again given we're likely to draft a QB, but I'm not going to try to take much from it.

Pretty much my view as well. I mean, theres a few others like Murray who I wouldn't mind a day 3 choice on as a 2nd QB taken....but I doubt those level QB are going to be on his show

its really more entertainment than anything else.  I'd like to see him bust on Manziel a little bit.

I love Gruden's QB camp.  Sadly, every episode, I am convinced that every QB is going to be a rock star.  Every year it is the same thing. I am such a sucker.

Not entirely true. Cam remembered play 27.

I would like to see a more detailed look at Mettenberger. Before the knee injury, many thought of him as a late 1st round prospect. However, since the injury, he has faded. In case the Jag's do pass on a 1st round QB, I would like to learn more on the other QB prospects.

If you want to hear Gruden praise every single QB in this draft, then this is the show for you!

He never says one negative thing about anyone.

The thing that is so intriguing about Mettenberger is how much he grew when he finally got NFL-caliber coaching this past season. Was that just a flash or will it continue throughout his career?

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Nah he got into Cam on the chalk board and even when Blaine was on he was yapping at him about his drops and footwork. He dooes heap on the praise but he has chided a few to come on the show before.

I would love to see the top 3 guys of course but i wouldnt mind seeing some of the others as we may end up with either a late late draft pick as a backup QB or well we might go round 2 or 3 on our "star" so any info i can get on some of the lesser known guys is fine by me.

I think he likes to mess with their heads, see how they react.

I remember with Blaine, it was... "can you get there like Peyton does?"  Practically barking at him about getting out from under center to run plays like the Colts would run where Manning had to practically sprint to the right to make the handoff, and getting back and firing off his plant foot on pass plays from under center.

Mostly he's pretty tame, but he does like to knock them off center to see how they react.  That is fun to watch.

I seem to remember Blaine looking a bit annoyed when he sat with Gruden. As pirk mentioned, Gruden kept showing Peyton handing off and then comparing him to Blaine and Bkaine just sat there with this "alright, I get it" look on his face.

Basically, QB scouting now is more of an art form than science.  I remember watching the Jimmy Clausen from the year before that, and Gruden absolutely roasted him.  It was like watching a father condescendingly talking to his teenage son.  I kinda felt bad for Clausen.

I know it would make 60% of this board happy to see Gruden bust Manziel but that isn't going to happy for two reasons; 1. Johnny is a better student of the game than you guys give him credit for. It's not all beer and parties for him, he actually does his film work. And 2. I doubt Gruden will intentionally try to "bust" on someone. Chances are Manziel will actually be Gruden's favorite guy.

The whole thing is more for entertainment, not actually about analyzing a QB. Not to be a broken record but yeah, Blaine and Ponder proved that his praise means little
