Senior Bowl practice notes

Quote:Clowney goes 1st (via Texans or trade) and Bridgewater goes 2, likely via trade.

Jax gets whats left.

Weren't you beating your chest recently, proclaiming the Texans WILL take Bridgewater?

So have you cooled on Manziel now?

So news I'm seeing today is Carr continues to impress, and is by far the best qb at the senior bowl. Matthews as well continues to impress making a few go get up catches today. Also my favorite player in this draft Christian jones made a nice pick in the redzone something people where saying he needed to work on. Anyone have anything else?

@MockingTheDraft: And there was Carr's issue with pressure showing up. Two plays in a row.

@MockingTheDraft: The issue for David Fales has been hiding the ball too long.

@MockingTheDraft: Jordan Matthews has shown today he can go up and high point the ball. He hasn't done that as much in previous practices.

@MockingTheDraft: Asked Dee Ford about playing Leo for Jacksonville and he got a big grin. Said they like him there.

I would be happy with Clowney in first and Ford in second and then draft 2 QBs after at some point.

Clowney and maybe Ford if we trade up in the second. Wouldn't be against it..but would prefer we get a QB sometime shortly after. Would it be out of the question if we traded up for Ford and then used our remaining ammo to get back in the second round for maybe a Grapollo? I could live without maybe a third round pick and our extra 4th and 5th for that.

That's not crazy.  In fact, I like it more the more I think about it.

It's been a long, long time since our defense was respected.  Garrard showed us what we can get with a well rounded team and solid QB play.  That's not to say we settle for it, but you can't throw all your resources/spend all your energy fixing only one or two spots on a team with so many holes as ours.

Having a defense that causes problems for the opposition makes things much easier on the offense no matter what caliber QB we land.  Since whether or not we find "the guy", we've still got a lot left to build on both sides of the ball that we don't have yet.

Just find the right QB, whether that is with the 1st pick or 2nd.  Getting that QB will make the rebuilding process a lot easier.  Missing out on a franchise QB when you have the chance to select him is just as bad as selecting the wrong QB early.

Clowney and Ford in our defense would be absurdly sick. God.

You're allowed to select a QB in the first round any year you like.  There's no window shutting in 2014, especially not with this crop.

Yes, #7 Christian Jones.   He has been very impressive.  I saw him the other day in pass rushing drills, he was beating his man routinely.
