There was absolutely no fire in the defense last night. Something that struck me was the absence of the usual competitive smack talk from our players during the game. They’ve given up. I get the distinct impression that Doug Marrone does not inspire confidence. Like Bullseye said last night, the D played like they were making a business decision. The remainder of the season will simply be a team going through the motions of earning a paycheck.

The fact that Henry, by all measures, a mediocre RB that has a few good games a year, almost broke the single game rushing record in both yards and TDs is enough for me to want to fire every single member of this staff. Absolutely pathetic, and our defense is supposed to be built.

At least the offense has excuses. The defense should be shooting for shutouts every week and they come out flat more times than not. Just sad and pathetic.

See a person could blame this season on the offensive injuries sure but that's not been the only problem. Everything I listed above has been an issue the oline being injured has nothing not do with receivers dropping balls, that's coaching and skill. If the coach sucks at teaching proper routes or how to catch a ball the HC should step up and fix that but he hasn't. Play calling, clock management both things that are on the HC. Sure the OC and DC call the plays but if those plays aren't working it's on the HC to figure out why. Not everything is on the coach and not everything is on the injuries, however there have been way more problems due to bad coaching than on injuries. If you disagree that is fine, I just think you're wrong.

Ummm this is the big league. If a coach needs to teach you how to catch a ball at this level, you’re playing the wrong position or you’re in the wrong profession. This isn’t pop warner. There is a lack of talent and experience in the WR room. Your issue is with the front office.

You are partially correct. People wash out of the league all the time for not being good. If you can't catch you lose your job. Who makes that decision the answer is yes FO, but who benches that person? That's the coach, who fires the coach who cannot teach basic mechanics? The HC. Notice I said that it's "coaching AND skill". Some players catch with their bodies others with their hands it's the coaches job to teach the proper way even at this level. Nice that you picked one little piece out of my post to try to dispute the rest of it. At this level a coach teaches catching, and throwing, and tackling those are called "the basics".

If you think the fall of this team has nothing to do with coaching then you're just being ignorant.

I'm telling you, it's this stupid hybrid defense we run. Run either a true 4-3 or a true 3-4 and we could make the most of what we have. Fire Wash and bring in a DC that knows how to design coverages and when to blitz. Wash has talent on his side of the football, but he doesn't know what to do with it. We had an extremely talented defense in 2017 and we largely have the same players. He has lost the defense. We would be so much better off hiring a new HC and bringing in new Coordinators on both sides of the football. A major shift in schemes and philosophies needs to happen for this team to succeed. We were a lot more aggressive on defense last season. This year, the defense looks completely lost, like they have no faith in the playbook.

What? Every 4-3 has 2 Lbs on the field most of the time. That's just nickel man. It's still a 4-3.  Our defense is a 4-3 even though most of the time we play with 5 DBs.

Zimmers defense is awesome, so is Pete Carrolls 4-3 and he rarely blitzs. Theres no definitive best defensive scheme
