As I've suggested a dozen times, even if we don't trust the receivers spreading the field some and forcing the defense into nickel would be advantageous for Fournette. Take the extra man out of the box, make the extra person trying to tackle him a small nickleback instead of a strong side linebacker...yeah i think that would help.

Sure we have that one 3 receiver set where we bunch them together in a triangle tight to the formation. Woo hoo so modern.

Not hardly. Coughlin's teams are based on discipline and strong balanced offenses. Quite opposite of what Marrone was doing. I'm not advocating for him to take over as coach, but if he did, his approach would be considerably different than Marrone's.

They totally forgot.

His last season we had 6 to 7 games lost by a 2 points are less something crazy.

Many of us don't really want a pass happy offense, necessarily.

We want an offense that is capable of converting 3rd and 5 through the air more efficiently than the what we've seen in Jax lately. We want just enough of a passing threat that teams are forced to think twice about 9 in the box.
It's not a huge ask. We want a team that when up on the scoreboard with two minutes to go and possession of the ball - can find a way to run out the clock.

Personally - I love the old school approach - but I realize it requires more balance than the Jags currently have.

Chalk some of it up to the line, chalk some of it up to the QB, chalk some up to receivers, whatever...
Regardless of all of that stuff - the Jags need a more forward thinking coordinator - and he needs to have some freedom to be creative about integrating the pass into the game-plan.

It doesn't have to mean throwing the ball 45 times a game. The run can still be leaned upon heavily.
In 2017 the Jags ran the ball 49% of the time.
If that number changed to 42-44% rushing - the Jags would still easily be a top ten team in run percentage and I think it would make a huge difference in a coordinator's options in attacking opposing defenses.
(this is basically what the 2017 saints did ^ 444 rushes and 528 pass attempts)
Not too much to ask.

although i hate 1010xl they had jason laconfer whoever on to interview about his report on tom. They called him on making it up, and asked if the info came in from the jags building. he got all bent out of shape and tried to fight them through the radio then hung up on them LOL

Look, I don't think Tom is a genius by any stretch of the word, but the fact is, the guy knows football more than anyone else in our front office. You'd think we'd learn the first time we chased him out of town, the guy deserves a decade to prove his worth before retiring.
