I'm guessing Marrone is here for at least two more years, then. Barring a truly catastrophic season next year (0-16)

Even with a top defense, 3 yards and a cloud of dust doesn’t win you a super bowl. Don't know where you got that idea about Coughlin. He's always preached balance and had some pretty good passing attacks over the course of his NFL seasons. The early Jags had great passing attacks when great passing attacks weren't cool.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

We just got our stockings filled with Bologna. Yuck.
Doug sucks. Brought the team within 1 play of going to the superbowl yada yada yada. Same formula this year caught up with them, once teams started to discount our passing game. I've seen Doug too many times this year with that lost look on his face like... "what the hell is going on". It's the same look that Gus used to have. Kahn is clueless. I thought Coughwell was supposed to come in and assist Kahn man with making football decisions.
Expected doesn't mean he can't be shipped out of here. If he's retained you can kiss this franchise goodbye for the next decade.

Question for those who want Marrone gone:
Do we really want our team to be in the habit of firing a coach after ONE (1) bad season? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Get ready. We win next week and the narrative will be about Blake Bottles comeback and how he deserves another chance.
On the same subject, there is considerable sentiment to fire Caldwell.
I think that is similarly misguided. His job is to build this team into a contender by adding talent to this roster. Now I readily concede he has mishandled the most important position in QB. But the other 52 men on the roster? I think he's done a very good job. Before Caldwell got here, we didn't have a ten sack guy on defense since Bobby McCray had 10 in 2006. Before then we had to go back to Brackens in 1999. He added two ten sack guys in Ngakoue and Campbell. Before Caldwell, we didn't have a Pro Bowl CB since Rashean Mathis made it in 2006. With Caldwell, we added two Pro Bowl CBs in Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye. Before Caldwell, we didn't have a Pro Bowl caliber LB since Kevin Hardy in 1999. With Caldwell, the Jaguars drafted Telvin Smith, who made the Pro Bowl last year. Caldwell added our first 1000 yard receivers in Robinson and Hurns since Jimmy Smith in 2006. WRs are supposed to be a dime a dozen. But somehow we couldn't find one talented enough to make plays on the field and disciplined enough to stay sober off the field to do this team any good. Caldwell found us playmakers outside. Caldwell built us an OL that set a franchise low in sacks and led the league in rushing. Even with this bad season, even with the likely free agency/salary cap related departures, this roster is in much better shape than it was when he got here. This team put a Ruth's Chris steak in front of us last year, and before we knew it, before we had a chance to take a bite and savor the meal, replaced it with Spam this year. But don't let the disappointment and bad taste this team left in our mouths this year make us lose sight of what he has done with the roster overall. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I think that ship has sailed, however, Bortles is doing his best to ensure we lose additional valuable draft picks to move up to draft his replacement. This team can't even lose right. Bullseye,
You give a guy WAY too much credit who has drafted in the top 5 essentially his entire tenure as GM. He has to go and fast! 40% of our offensive line needs to be replaced AND we need #1 WR AND a QB. Anything Caldwell did well was by chance. (12-24-2018, 11:24 AM)StroudCrowd1 Wrote: Bullseye, Most of the stud guys he added were outside of the top 5 Robinson was picked at the bottom of the 2nd round. Hurns was a free agent. Ngakoue was picked in the 3rd round. Telvin Smith was a 5th round pick. Campbell and Bouye were free agents that could have been added by anyone. Is our roster anywhere near as talented without those guys? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

We haven't had a #1 receiver in a decade+, and even Allen Robinson wasn't one in my opinion. Campbell has been awesome. Nobody will argue that. Smith has been highly inconsistent. Maybe Caldwell is great and the coaches just suck?
Smith and Linder are Dave's 2 best picks. His overall draft history has been horrendous with where he has picked. His FA pickups last year are probably the biggest reason we made it as far as we did, 2 All Pros. Dave needs to go.
I do think Marrone is a good head coach but we could upgrade imo. We def. need to find an OC though and Dave needs to go for sure (12-24-2018, 11:34 AM)StroudCrowd1 Wrote:(12-24-2018, 11:28 AM)Bullseye Wrote: Most of the stud guys he added were outside of the top 5 Maybe Caldwell is good not great, maybe Marrone is good, not great, but injuries like the ones we had this year really really suck.
