The current one doesn't take it anyway.

If we're going to change rules like this we have to consider the next few people that will hold the office, not just this one. I stand by what I said.  It makes a lot of sense to furlow both Congress and the President's salaries in case of a shutdown.
The downside is that would just make some of the bad ones just care even less and rely that much more on bribes.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

It’s more likely to encourage them to agree to anything to keep it from happening.

Exactly, it a perverse incentive.

To remind the dim of wit and short of intellect...

"shutdown" means non-essential employees

Anyone who is non-essential should be non-employed.

Weirdest thing ever.

If you're non-essential to the Government working correctly... you shouldn't have a job.

Government hires the most incompetent morons they can - and never fire them.

I'm a firm believer in Darwinism though.

I somewhat agree with you.  In my mind anything non-essential to the federal government should either be privatized (postal service as an example) or left up to the states to manage and fund (national parks as an example).

To me essential to the federal government should be military, congressional/presidential/Supreme Court offices, treasury, homeland security and a few others.  Those are essential in order to uphold The Constitution.  NOT included is the IRS, EPA, BLM, OSHA and other agencies like that.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

I don't want to read the entire thread to find justification for your condescension, was someone here claiming otherwise?

The text of the Ocasio-Cortez proposed "New Green Deal". It's a Stalinistic nightmare.

And so it begins. It is going to be entertaining watching Pelosi eat her young soul alive. My favorite part is how the bill is presented like a social media conversation.

Quote:How will the government pay for these investments?

Many will say, “Massive government investment! How in the world can we pay for this?” The answer is: in the same ways that we paid for the 2008 bank bailout and extended quantitative easing programs, the same ways we paid for World War II and many other wars. The Federal Reserve can extend credit to power these projects and investments, new public banks can be created (as in WWII) to extend credit and a combination of various taxation tools (including taxes on carbon and other emissions and progressive wealth taxes) can be employed.

Democrats complain about what Trump has done to the economy then want to hand the government a credit card. Awesome.

I’ve seen some pretty concerning government ideas, policy, etc. in my time but this is one of the most flawed and concerning that I have ever seen. Even more troubling is that there are other politicians hopping on board this train of economic doomsday. Was there even a coherent thought process involved? Holy [BLEEP]!

I can't wait until she figures out that government has to have a source of income to pay for this stuff. It'll be like telling an 8-year-old there's no Santa Claus.

AOC has proposed taxing the top earners 70% to fund her green new deal.

You know its scary when you have to confirm that some of these articles aren't written by the Onion.

Why do right-wingers have such an issue with women? Mommy issues?

Some of you act as if AOC has any influence. But, that's what you do - find a perceived weak spot - always a woman - and beat it to death. No wonder nothing of substance gets discussed.

Some of you guys just love TMZ.

I think we ALL (including the left wingers posting in here) have an issue with brainless people who never accomplished anything in life in power.

She is a brainless person and it has nothing to do with her gender!
