Senior Bowl practice notes

Quote:The Jags would be stupid to just outright cut Babin.....so I guess it might happen.

If another team wants Babin make them trade for him, otherwise, just keep him ourselves.

Babin is due 6million next season compared to making 4million this year. No one is trading for him with him due that number next season.

If he doesn't want to restructure his deal I could see Caldwell letting him go.

Quote:1st of all, I doubt Kelly would have needed to go into the season before he jettisoned one or both of Gabbert/ Henne. So, no, the rosters wouldn't likely have been identical.

That said, I've been over this before - Kelly without a doubt would have gotten more from this roster than Gus did. Doesn't mean Gus is terrible, but Chip Kelly is on another level coaching wise than Gus.

You are so dense it's mind-blowing, sir.

Babin has already stated if he's here next year, he'd be willing to restructure lower.

It would be stupid to cut him. He's worth more to us than to just cut him. Its not like him staying here is holding up potential draftees from coming here, anyway. I'd rather keep him and then maybe deal him at the deadline if necessary should a team get desperate for DE help.

I was unaware he said he'd restructure. If he did he'd provide quality depth provided we add an ace LEO in the draft or free agency

Yep, said it at some point around the end of season.

You realize babin has a huge cap hit, like Lewis? how can u want to cut Lewis..who is younger...but keep Babin..who offers very average production at elite DE money. where is your consistency TMD

Babin has already said he'd take a pay cut, unlike briefcase hands, he already makes less than briefcase hands, and I'd bet Babin's sack total is closer to being towards the top than briefcase hands reception total is.

What happened to the senior bowl updates? Did I miss something? It's now about Babin?

Well, this was a good thread.

The game is tomorrow.

What updates at this point do you expect? You probably just wanted to complain.

You're not getting any more senior bowl news at this point - the actual game will be the next news.

No crap given by my part. So perhaps your just crazy?

Wasn't sure if they had practice this afternoon or not and if so perhaps there were tweets or updates. I'm well aware the game is tomorrow. All I saw was Babin posts. Not sure why you took offense.

Ok, maybe my sarcasm detector needs to be turned down a notch.

Well, I will give you that. Most of my posts are sarcastic or stupid jokes so...

But no I was really enjoying the thread. Was there no practice today or tweets from today/tonight?

It has nothing to do with "sarcasm detectors."  It's called being a few cans shy of a six pack.

Not sure, but being that the game is tomorrow, I'd doubt there was anything meaningful today

Quote:This team has to do whatever they can to get Dee Ford.  He is going to be very good.

Best thing we can do is trade a fourth to the Browns for the #35 pick because I don't think the Redskins will want to trade down in Round 2. Do it Caldwell!

Quote:Different people different opinions.

The main I thing I saw tweeted was that Garoppolo overall looked better than Carr and impressed a lot of folks.

Since we not there I am writing this off as people seeing what they want to see to backup their already formed opinion of players.

It depends on your definition of better and what you are looking for. People have different ideas on what to look for in a quarterback.

Quote:All measurables subject to change when the Combine rolls around.

The only measurement that can change is weight. If a player's height is different at the combine, it is because of the time he was measured.

Quote:Lots and lots of North QB hate. Boyd the best of the group today but still subpar.

What I hate is the fact that South Carolina and Miami quarterbacks are on the North team while the South quarterbacks are from EIU, San Jose State, and Fresno State. I will never understand why we are not coaching Stephen Morris and Tajh Boyd.

Quote:True, but it also means he doesn't have as many drop opportunities since he is usually making contested catches, and they don't really give out drops to contested balls that aren't caught. You have to be pretty wide open for a drop to be counted as a drop, and he doesn't create the separation for a whole lot of wide open catches.

That is stupid. Whether a wide receiver is covered or not, if the ball goes through his hands, it is a drop. Why should the Senior Bowl be any different?

This Econo-Jaguars mentality is really old. It's got us nothing as long as it's been around. It serves no interest other than leading the league in cap space and six-consecutive non-winning seasons.

The unwillingness to pay veterans is a sure sign of a lack of football knowledge.

Babin is the heart and soul of our defense. If you're so blind that you can not see Babin's intangible value in return for his pay, you might suggest the Jaguars cut back on lawn-watering, solar panels, or something else to save a buck.

Please, for the team....for the city pride...stop cannibalizing every guy with a contract.

When you say things like Babin is the heart and soul of the defense I can't take you seriously.

Please, for the team....for the city pride...stop calling Jason Babin the heart and soul of our defense.
