If she keeps doing the things she's doing and they are largely ignored, she's just another nameless, faceless first-term rep with lots of big ideas and no quantifiable action, which makes her an easy target. If she keeps being portrayed by the right as some kind of antichrist, it emboldens her supporters on the left to see her as a savior for the Democratic Party...which she's not, although I wouldn't complain if she were to become one. With Trump's outfit running a far-right GOP and the Cortez-led "democratic socialists" running the Democrats, it might finally piss off enough of us in the middle for a third party to emerge.

Your dream of a legit 3rd party is the same dream that the GND is. Is Trump really that far right?

Maybe, maybe not. His rhetoric certainly is, as is his refusal to reject or condemn the alt-right and far right figures and groups that publicly adore him. Agreeing to a spending bill that contains a billion and change for vehicle barriers will help his perception in the middle while decaying it with his base, so who knows at this point?

Please don't compare my hopes for a third party to that Green New Deal mess. My views have about as much in common with Cortez's as yours do with Hillary Clinton.

The "threat" is that many of the Dem candidates for president in 2020, one of whom could end up being the next president, are buying into her idiotic ideas.

In which case they'd be basically a left-wing Trump. Which is a problem.

Welp.

AOC - Lawbreaker

FTA:

"And fellow former FEC commissioner Brad Smith told TheDCNF that if “a complaint were filed, I would think it would trigger a serious investigation.” He also noted that such a probe could potentially result in jail time for Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff, Chakrabarti."

Will Pelosi throw her to the wolves? Probably.

IF only Colbert, Kimmel and a couple of others will back her as they did Killary last election, we will all be safe.

She doesn't support intervening in Venezuela and says we need to respect their democracy. Lol. Clearly she did her homework.

There are many districts in California that are more liberal than AOC's district in Long island. there are districts in Washington state that are more liberal than Rashida tlaib district in Michigan, or ilhan Omar's district in Minnesota.

These women won their general elections thanks to partisan primaries. By the time most people got out to vote, they were the only Democrats on the ballot.

If they had tried to run in Washington state or California in a liberal district, the general election would have been one Democrat versus another Democrat, and generally the more conservative of the two would win just enough for votes from Independents and Republicans to win.

Go to top two open primaries like California and Washington state did, and your politicians will still be crazy but not nearly as crazy as these.

Not true, I wish it was, but it isn't in my experience with california. The more liberal crazier candidate still won again. I am not sure the republicans even vote there. Well I guess my vote wasn't counted, so theirs probably weren't either.

She is the ultimate republican Trojan Horse. If she manages to stay in office, she will do more damage to the left than just about anything trump and the right can do.

Just to review some of he awesomeness so far-

- unemployment is down because people work two jobs. Huh not how that works but ok

- propose a 93 trillion dollar deal to reduce our carbon footprint that wouldnt be possible if every household was taxed 100% for the next 10 years... but still let's do it lol

- provide relief to people unwilling to work through tax dollars... seems like good incentive to work to me

- push a company out of your district that would bring 25000 jobs and over 27bil in income tax over the next 10 years because 3 billion is tax incentives is somehow too much.

- then say you will take the 3bil in incentives(that you don't have because the company will not pay anything now that you pushed them out) and use the make believe money to pay teachers and fix subways. because that's how taxes work lol

- stop having kids because they have no opportunities for success even though less children are born into poverty in this country than anywhere in history... sounds like a solid strategy lol

- stop cows from farting. Solid logic

- refer to Palestine as a state/country even though it is not because you are not a geopolitical expert.

- say your country is only 10% better than garbage.

- claim the world will end in 12 years so who cares about how much money your 93trillion plan costs.

- talk to your fellow congress like they are in kindergarten while spewing completely false stats about campaign funding and dark money.

- move almost a million from a PAC to a LLC during your campaign so you can avoid reporting were you spend money that is donated to your campaign... slightly illegal

Did I miss anything? lol I'm not huge into politics but I get a kick out of watching this dumpster fire. I really hope this isnt the direction our future politicians going. I truely try to stay away from concerning myself with politics but this lady is too insane to ignore.

Sounds like something you remember your bartender saying when you are drunk. Oh wait... people wonder how she got into office. I think they must have had a drunk demographic of people show up at the polls that the other candidates didn't anticipate. At least that is all I can come up with.

She got into office because there were 16,000 people in her district as dumb as her and a geriatric lifelong politician didn't take her serious. Now she is the leader and face of the democratic party whom are now fighting to make the legal voting age 16 and allow illegal immigrants to vote.

I can't see Pelosi just rolling over and ending her career on this note. Don't be surprised if some serious allegations against AOC magically appear out of thin air. Nancy didn't get where she is by being nice.

In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy the implosion of the party.

It's not as if anyone on this board has any better understanding of the art of conversation and persuasion than what she shows in that quote.

Everyone reads stupider if you include every "like" or "um" or "ah" they make while they are speaking.  It takes years of work to learn to speak impromptu without filler words.  She just became a politician a year ago.

For me, it is not how she speaks, it is what she she says and the actual substance of her ideas that are bothersome. I feel like She is wrong more than right. Some of the statements are factually incorrect to a degree that even someone with little political or government understanding could recognize. Congress is not an arena for people learn their craft, they better have an understanding of the political arena and what is expected of the position they hold on arrival.

I know our pres has had his moments, but not to this degree, at least imo.

Lol, you have no idea how the people on this board act in an actual personal setting. Conclusion based on assumption is how you roll.

She has said a lot of stuff that I disagree with as well.
I agree that climate change is a crisis. I thought Obama's clean power plan was a good first step and I would also be down for higher fuel taxes and fuel-efficiency standards to help address it.
I don't agree with trying to get everybody in an electric car during the next 10 years. I don't agree with the government providing jobs to everyone who can't find them on their own, and I don't see what such a guarantee has to do with mitigating climate change.
