Draft hopes and nightmares

#61

Ideal Draft:

1. T.J. Hockenson
2. Chris Lindstrom
3.Juan Thornhill
3b.Andy Isabella
4. Will Grier
6. Keelan Doss
7. James Williams

Nightmare:

I don't want them taking J. Taylor in round 1.

Not taking a tight end named Hockenson, Fant, Smith, Knox or Sternberger.

Other than Grier in the 4th round, I believe there is a strong chance all my players will be available where they were taken. If Lindstrom is gone, my next choice would be Adderley. They would then take the offensive lineman in round 3 instead of Thornhill. Bobby Evans would be my pick at that spot with Deiter another option. Two receivers were taken because Doss would be impossible to pass on if he's there in round 6. Isabella may be small, but he could be a great slot receiver for Foles to rely on. James Williams would make the team as a 3rd down back who would catch a lot of balls coming out of the backfield.

Keelan Doss is gonna go in the 3rd round of the draft, maybe 2nd and possibly 4th round at the very latest. He's definitely not falling to the 6th. I like the first 3 picks though. We get a TE, RG and FS who can start immediately. I'd skip the QB pick though since we Foles for the next few years and replace that pick with a Swing Tackle who can compete for the RT position with Richardson.

90% of the draft day hats look terrible. There's just too much on them. I like the simple, understated ones. The Saints hat is the only one I really like. The Panthers hats are abysmal.

I don't know that Doss will be taken in the 3rd; there are so many receivers in this draft that will make an NFL squad. However, it is unlikely he makes it to round 6, as you said. If he is gone, I'd still take a 2nd receiver in this round. Someone of value at receiver should still be available- maybe Jazz Ferguson. His name is reason alone to take him. As far as the Grier pick, that was a tough one as I also considered a swing tackle. Grier just seems like a guy who has a chance to succeed and would be a good back-up to start his career.

People sleeping on Garry Jennings. Go watch that Oklahoma game. I would be ok with him in the 3rd honestly and would be a steal in the 4th

I think there's a perfectly good chance that Doss is there in the 6th considering the depth at WR, but I massively doubt that Grier will be there in the 4th. I know a lot of mocks have him going later, but some team will like him enough to spend a late 2nd/early third on him at least.

Keelan Doss is closer to being in the 6th than he is in the 2nd for sure

He's big, he was productive in college, he runs excellent routes and he has some of the best hands in the draft. Why would he fall that far?

Because there are literally masses of WRs in this draft who fit that profile. You can make a subjective argument for why any of them should go higher, but ultimately there are so many that it is obvious some good players will be available later in the draft. Some team might fall in love with Doss and take him early, but it's unlikely.

Small school, only had one interview at the combine, not very fast or athletic.

Given the depth of  this class i'd say he's a lock to be drafted in the 4th or later

Doss is a guy on my list for the Jags to eyeball with pick #109.

I really don't think he drops past early fifth.

He had a really good Senior Bowl and speed is the most overrated aspect of the WR position. Larry Fitzgerald ran a 4.63, Jerry Rice ran a 4.71, Chris Carter ran a 4.58 and Steve Largent ran a 4.7. They are all arguably some of the best WR's to ever play the game. They all relied on route running and good hands and they thrived in the NFL.

I don't doubt that he can be good.

Just draft wise being a small schooler who isn't that fast or athletic means you are gonna be limited with where NFL teams will draft you as a receiver.

It seems to me that you are a very knowledgeable person on the draft! Or should I say, " great minds think alike."

Grier is going to another team that has a aging starting QB to sit behind well before the 4th round. Don't be ridiculous.

Yeah you are right. Panthers is just abstract art at this point. New Era was a terrible initiative. It needs to die out.

How would we feel about drafting A.J. Brown 7th overall? If he turns into a Julio/Josh Gordon type player. I think he can be what Blackmon should have for this team. A better option for Foles than Alshon. I was on the Metcalf train but this kid is obviously a better all around receiver. Gotta get Foles a Go To Reciever. TE is deep. Pause

biggest overall hope:

Draft a stud TE and a player that will compete for the RT spot.

biggest overall nightmare:

Two or more of the four picks from #7-#109 are defensive players and one of them is a luxury pick.
I think we need to find value in three of those four picks specifically for offense.
