Quote:In the past I have stipulated that trades were not allowed- in an effort to simplify things. That was met with mixed reactions, so that's one of the things I suppose we could discuss.

-----------------------

eSPORTS NEWS

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Jaguars have hinted that they might seek a trade partner in the up-coming Jaguar's Forum Annual Participatory Mock Draft Extravaganza! . One problem for their voluntary NFL mock draft GM, Jungle Cat, the issue of whether or not to allow trades has yet to be discussed, and with the draft likely to begin in the next twenty-four hours, the time to talk is running out.

"We have proposed a plan to allow trades", said Jungle Cat. "The trade plan includes the authority to veto any trade that seems outlandish".

While it might seem with the talk about allowing trades in the mock draft might suggest Jungle Cat is beginning to feel the strain of selecting a player with the third over-all pick in the mock draft, he doesn't seem to mind doing just that. "Trades or no trades, I feel honored to have the responsibility to find and draft the best possible player I can for my team."

Having quickly taken the Jaguars in the first come, first served lottery for teams, Jungle Cat immediately began to explore the possibility of trades, but will go along with any decision. "The third slot is a very interesting position to be in. What's yucky is the fact that the draft order will change for the Jaguars in rounds two and three. A lot can happen prior to our second round selection."

What kind of a trade could happen for the mock Jaguars' GM? "There are a couple of teams with multiple first round selections, so you're looking at the likelihood of swapping first rounders to start. The decision would be open. Whether or not such a team would choose to part with their second first round pick or a pair of picks from rounds two and three remains unclear".

The Jaguars mock GM says he has been looking at as much material as possible so that when the time to pick does come, he'll be ready. "Well, the NFL Scouting Combine hasn't happened yet, but it's not necessary to have the data from that to make this mock draft productive. It's all imaginary".

You're a weird guy, Ace.

I'll play along. Get on the horn and start talking to other GMs. Trades are fine and I like your suggestion of the veto power. I'll go ahead and take on that responsibility and will consult with other GMs if need-be.

I'll update the team/poster list and make my pick tomorow. But I'm sleeping in (west coast time y'all) so don't get your panties in a bunch if it's midday for yous guys.

How are trades going to work if we only have 3 rounds?

Also, more importantly, we need some ground rules like how long a team is on the clock before being passed. That was an issue last year as most people forget about this in a week.

With the first pick in the 2014 draft, the Houston Texans select....

...Jadeveon Clowney, DE, University of South Carolina

Pretty easy choice here. Best player in the draft by far. Every draft pick is a roll of the dice, might as well roll the dice with the biggest potential payout.

St. Louis is now on the clock...

So interested to see if Rams take Matthews whether JungleCat will reach for an OLman that doesn't belong in the top three.

With the second pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select.....

.....Jake Matthews, Offensive Tackle, Texas A&M.

Jake Matthews won out in a close race between himself, Greg Robinson, and Sammy Watkins. Robinson may have a bit more long term upside, but no other tackle can provide the consistent high level of play as well as versatility that Matthews has had over his years at TAMU. WR is probably the deepest position, so the Rams can pass on Watkins and grab one later in the draft. St. Louis is moving forward as Bradford as their quarterback and getting the most pro-ready tackle in the draft is the best way to give him a fighting chance.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are now on the clock.

I'm gonna wait here until the jags pick and then boo it, learn to accept it, start to love it, fast forward 3 years later and say we should have taken whichever players were better picks later in the draft and burn effigies of the poster.

Choose wisely Jungle Cat.

(This post was last modified: 01-28-2014, 07:45 PM by The Eleventh Doctor.)

The Cincinnati Gingers
suggest that a new topic should be made for the draft, with a list of picks and such for easy access for General Managers.  Some people may even be looking for a new thread.  (Also which users are picking which teams too would be nice)

The topic creator would then edit the original post for picks as necessary for quick and easy reference.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
