A Troubling Tweet From Hays Carlyon

I also don't think Jalen is going to be a long term Jaguar. Even if a contract is offered, if we keep losing he isn't going to want to stay, and I'd say that's more likely than the alternative.

Hays mistake is that culture isn't created by the front office. It's created by the locker room.

Honestly, I don't think this team is going anywhere with Jalen or without him.  I think the NFL has huge problems overall and the next CBA is going to burn the fans even further.  The older I get the less I live or die by the team.  I will still enjoy the actual games but I just can't get into all the drama.  It feels like the game has moved on and isn't for me anymore.  Movies, Culture and day to day drama aren't for me anymore.  Heck even my job is against me.  All of this swirling stuff has eeked into all aspects of day to day life.  I miss the simple escapism provided by football.

I am looking forward to seeing well thrown passes at least.
Right here with ya, hell I've dropped my Season Tix for the first time ever (Wife got laid off) and honestly, I'm looking forward to not being as involved in it.

He played through injury the ENTIRE season, and when asked about it in the locker room he'd brush it off and say "I'm fine."

He wasn't fine. He limped off the field dozens of times and wasn't himself. It was very obvious if you paid attention.

LOL.   Yeah OK Sure.  Then here's the thing... if you are hurt and not able to perform at your best... maybe stop running your mouth?   Just a thought.    I sincerely hope he proves me wrong this year.
OK. I'm trying to get my head around your takes on this.

Are you:

-  just really bothered by his personality? i.e. Love of the spotlight/trash talk/publicity stunt artist/aggressive self promoter

 - Thinking that he's not really as good as he played in 2017?  (which was elite)

 - Not believing that he actually played through injury last year even though his name is all over the injury report?

Or - all of the above?

I guess I can see his point of view.

These are grown men being paid to play a child's game.

Seeing them act like children kinda sucks.. but can we really be surprised? they play a kids game.

I'm an FSU fan. I remember Deion Sanders' last home game in Tallahassee. He arrived on the field in a limo, at the 50-yard line. A hot dog? Sure. But also arguably the greatest CB in modern NFL history, with SB rings from two teams.

I don't care what Jalen does outside the stadium. What matters is what he does inside on game day, in between the whistles.

Anyone making too much out of this publicity stunt should go to the 6:07 mark in this video and get a dose of reality about Jalen from his head coach:

There is an element to this as well ^

Since Carlyon left the times union and went to 1010xl (where he writes a Jags blog) his tactic has changed dramatically.
He's leaning more and more toward click bait.

I can't recall ever reading his blog there until I read this post and then later today saw his latest.

I don't get this.

He first "got in trouble" for "running his mouth" when an interview with GQ he did early in the offseason (before he was hurt) became public (again before he was hurt).  The next controversy happened early in camp, when Fowler fought Ngakoue late in one practice, and Jalen chastised the media in attendance for covering it in an attempt to protect his team.

Again this was before he was hurt.

So if he's not hurt, but could possibly get hurt, is he not supposed to talk at all?

What if he's talking on the field and you can't hear him, and you will never know what he says?  Should he not talk then?  What if a player talks to him first?

He's produced a few alarmist style headlines for the blog that he touts repeatedly on twitter to garner clicks since he migrated.  The recent ones I recall were taking jabs at Fournette and Telvin Smith.  Much of his blog entries are fine really.

I actually find Carlyon the only tolerable element of the Frangie Show on 1010, though I almost never listen to it. He's much more informed and level headed than the rest of that roundtable.  I wonder sometimes to what degree he must despise kowtowing to Frangie's nonsensical Jags takes on the air.

I mean, look at the Kawhi situation. There has been no more professional and successful franchise this generation than the Spurs, but even that doesn't matter in today's player empowerment era.

I'd prefer he didn't run his mouth so much.  I don't like it.  IMO, it's a character thing.  OTH, he's not doing drugs or beating women and children.  He's just a diva.  And I don't like diva behavior.  But since he's a diva, I want him to be the jaguar's diva.  The Brinks truck was a funny stunt.  That's all it was.  No big deal.

How long does 1010 have the broadcast rights?  I would so love to have Sexton back in the booth.

I've never really had an issue with who's calling the games and don't like Sexton as a whole but I know a ton of people feel the same

This is where I lean with it...

what a silly remark with nothing to back it up.

"top players dont like fo"

oh yeah? based on what? The fact that the FO isn't resigning players with 2 years left on the deal? Or the fact that most contracts are 2-3 year deals essentially? Players don't have to sign those contracts.

I dislike(d) most of the beat writers for Jville. Vito (thank god he retired, unfortunately he still tweets non stop about POTUS and CBS app covers it not knowing he doesn't really cover Jags anymore), Gene, Hays, Ryan O (thank god he went to Denver)... blegh
I miss Mike Kaye.

But some people love to judge others and complain about their behavior because it isn't "how they'd act"
