Offense really lost steam. Rain is probably a big reason why. Man, the defense is playing lights out though.

Here is the thing.

1. NFL said they will be more strict on calling holding this year.
2. Good offensive line technique is hard now because fewer college players are taught the techniques that pro teams want them to use.
3. Most NFL teams basically took the preseason off and didn't get "real game snaps".

All that leads to way more holding calls that are legitimate. It not the NFL's fault that teams didn't listen. It's not the NFL's fault that players are not as prepared for the NFL style of blocking.

You can argue the NFL should just adjust to the new style of NFL, but at some point you have give the defense a break instead of keep making rule changes/adjustments that puts them at a disadvantage.

This has been a complaint of mine for a while now. The standard of O-line play has fallen dramatically and the standard of O lineman is getting worse. Now like you say, that's as they run spread O's in college and dont learn pulling and second level blocks. 

If the player is holding, then the ref has to throw a flag. What he should ignore it as hes thrown a lot already? I think one of the big changes was the drop in contact practises. Yes players health was becoming an issue with the heat but it requires extraordinary coordination and working together. It doesn't just happen in a week.

I noticed ESPN was pointing to the sky above the lights and stadium in the first half. I just checked the weather, the game cast in the second half is 71 to 72 degrees with cloudy to mostly cloudy skies, 13 to 12 mile per hour winds, and no rain and drizzle.

This division was always going to be a slugfest this year. All four teams can beat each other. Plus they play 2 tough divisions in AFC West and NFC South. Whoever wins will either just be the healthiest or battle-tested for a playoff run.
