Jadeveon Clowney

Quote:The Jaguars need a DE and QB. If you grade the DE higher, then you take the DE.The DE has to be graded much higher. If they are close at all you take the QB every time, and I feel that at least Teddy will be rated closely. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Of course I would take the all pro QB. In the past 10 years, theres really only been 3 all pro QBs. Brady, Manning, and Rodgers.Ok then, would you turn down Matt Ryan with the weapons that we have I in fact agree that Clowney as that POTENTIAL Quote:The Jaguars need a DE and QB. If you grade the DE higher, then you take the DE. Both positions are important. If QBs are so important (theres only about 5 elite franchise QB), then why was Brady (6th rd, yes lucky but the pats were built on D), Wilson (rd 3), Kaep (rd 2) in the final 4?Actually can respond to both parts of this flawed statement. http://www.bucsnation.com/2013/11/14/510...draft-pick You don't draft and pray that you find the extreme outliers...especially at QB, you scout and play the percentages and if you do get extremely lucky and an outlier QB falls in your lap then you become a dynasty. Fishing for the Brady/Brees/Wilson is statistically a 90%+ chance of failure. I'm not getting on that boat.
Quote:Actually can respond to both parts of this flawed statement. http://www.bucsnation.com/2013/11/14/510...draft-pickTalent past the 1st is extremely difficult to find. Oddly enough its the qbs who have everything but the physical knocks that get drafted later an excel Brady had physical knocks, Brees had them and Wilson had them Ought to tell people something
Here are the 1st round QBs (next Manning, can't miss, gonna take our team to the next 15 years of playoffs) for the past few years
2007 Russell (JaMarcus), Brady Quinn, 2008 Ryan, Flacco 2009 Stafford, Sanchez, Freeman 2010 Bradford, Tebow 2011 Newton, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder 2012 Luck, RG3, Weeden So maybe one elite QB? How many elite talents did those high pick teams pass up? Calvin Johnson? Aldon Smith? Patrick Peterson? Adrian Peterson? JJ Watt? etc.... I'm just saying I would like the Jaguars to have a great team. I feel the safest way is just taking the freak talent when its there. In no way, am I knocking Teddy. I would love Bridgewater. I just like Clowney more. I feel like Bridgewater would become an instant franchise QB. If Bridgewater can turn out to be like Aaron Rodgers instead of Matt Ryan, that'd be great. If he doesnt... that'll put us behind a couple more years We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Look at the best defenses last year... remember our coach is a defensive coach. Seahawks, Panthers, 49ers, Saints, KC, Cardinals, Bengals. The only team that really depends on their QB is N.O.
I'll take the success that the Seahawks, 49ers, Bengals have had the past 4-5 years from drafting the higher grade player over the need for QB. Bengals taking AJ Green when they really needed a QB. The 49ers building the oline and dline and probably having the best team in the NFL. After saying everything... If Clowney is gone, I would prefer Bridgewater over anyone else. I have Clowney as 1 and Bridgewater as 2. I wouldn't want Barr or Mack over Bridgewater. This argument is more about Clowney then defense over offense. I feel like Clowney would make this team better than Bridgewater.

Quote:Look at the best defenses last year... remember our coach is a defensive coach. Seahawks, Panthers, 49ers, Saints, KC, Cardinals, Bengals. The only team that really depends on their QB is N.O.The problem is those teams have had years of drafting high and good scouting to boot...Time is not on our side. We have to win now
Quote:Would you really pass over Matt Ryan???Yes, I would really pass over Matt Ryan. Atl has given up so much to build their team around Matt Ryan. He's not an elite or all pro QB to me. He has had Julio Jones, Roddy White, Gonzalez, Turner, etc. He's NOT a 100 million dollar QB. That's the problem with these average QBs that aren't elite. They get top dollar contracts and teams lose the talent they have around them when they weren't top dollar. Like Ryan, Flacco, Romo, Eli etc. These are average to good QBs that get Manning money. All of those GMs aren't going anywhere since they've has success. That's the danger of drafting a QB to high. You feel commited to them. You don't' want to admit they weren't that great. You miss that all those teams were good before they came on. Those QBs set them over the edge, now are overpaid... and the teams will pay for it We show less advertisements to registered users. Luck is the only QB prospect put on Mannings level in the last 20 years.
Quote:Who the heck decided that Clowney is already a guaranteed All Pro and Teddy (or any other 1st round QB) is barely better than the later guys? That is in no way already proven. Quote:Who the heck decided that Clowney is already a guaranteed All Pro and Teddy (or any other 1st round QB) is barely better than the later guys? That is in no way already proven. This may be one of the stupid post ever. Reggie freakin White? The only QB's in the game I would take over White is Brady, Manning, Rodgers, and Brees. Its not even close with the rest of the QBs. You dont just take a franchise QB over Reggie White, it better be a Hall of Fame QB. WOW We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Why?We haven't made the playoffs since 07 We haven't won 8 games since 2010 I really don't like losing, we have a qb in the draft who can make us competitive again Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, Suh, Pepper all those "special talents" have something in common No ring on their finger...

WOWHow many super bowls did the best two DEs of all time (Reggie White and Bruce Smith) win? One total, and White had to bail and join up with Brett Favre to get it. Again, you all so highly over romanticize these pass rushers. They're great but not even close to the same level as a QB. You take the gamble on a franchise QB prospect over a franchise DE prospect every time.
