I never said it grow on trees did I?  It was building their team on both sides of the line.  It was spending high picks on DL or OL or defensive playmakers.  It was waiting for a QB later in the draft.

B/c when you pick Clowney, it'll raise your defense that much.  It would improve every other player on your defense more than Teddy would improve your offensive players.  Clowney will make Gratz, Cyprien, etc.  much better players.  Clowney and a few pieces turns your defense into one of the best in the AFC.  Teddy and a few WRs, will still equal about 6-10.

Just like you said Russell Wilson's dont come around everyday, its just as hard to get a Kam Chancellor or a Richard Sherman in the 5th or later.  Those 2 players are the best at their position.
